The spring pond season is in full swing, with fishermen reporting plenty of action on crappie, bass, pickerel and bluegills throughout the state. Richard Fairweather weighed in a 1.29-pound citation crappie at Captain Bones Bait and Tackle. Shop owner Patty Foley also weighed several nice bass, including a 5.75-pounder from Garrisons Lake. Crappie topped the list for pond fishermen stopping at Shooter's Supply. Joshua Gentry landed a citation crappie with a FinS lure at Smalley Dam Pond. Anglers stopping at the shop also reported good crappie fishing at Canal Pond and Dragon Run. Jerry Taylor at Taylored Tackle recommended Records Pond, Hearns Pond, Horsey Pond and Chipmans Pond for crappie. George Pechin reported a big improvement in largemouth action, with fishermen stopping at Williamsville Country Store reporting good catch-and-release bass fishing at Haven Lake, Griffith Lake and Killens Pond.
