I spent the '50's in SW Florida as a young boy. ('53 - '59)  Everywhere I went at Ft. Myers Beach,  there was a large number of people spin fishing.  I honed my craft watching my father and mother, and their friends doing the same.

I moved back down here to stay on October 2, 2008.  I have been all over and have yet to see people spin fishing.  It's either shrimp, shiners, or pinfish.....people fish from piers or bridges,  not so many on the beaches and the ones on the beach are doing the same bait thing.

I have nothing against baits and occasionally ad one on my lure.  But I am a spin fisherman.  I love artificial lures and plugs, etc.  I do not like piers, other then to walk out on and I do enjoy seeing the fishing that goes on there, bridges ... no thanks.  I fish from shore, or (the best) I fish the mangroves by boat.  I seem to be doing better at catching fish with spin fishing. So if there are others out there who love spin fishing as much as I do, let's share our experiences, and tales of this somewhat lost art in SW Florida.
