Does anyone fish at the Pier in St Pete? If so, any chance I could join you? I only get to fish once a month when my brother comes up from Sarasota and takes me fishing. It's driving me CRAZY!

I'm a Sr. Programmer/Analyst and was laid off back in Feb. 2008. The kind of programing I do is a dying breed and the demand is VERY LOW! Plus being disabled on top of that makes it even more difficult to find another job. I guess what I'm saying is, I'm limited on what I can do. So unfortunately I have to live off of the Government and am stuck home on a daily basis.

I'm not asking for someone to take me every day, but it would be nice if there was a few people out there that wouldn't mind taking me up to the Pier and fish with me for a couple of hours every once in awhile.

If I had some kind of a table or a stand which could hold my tackle box, bait, a drink and a few other items, I could do it myself, but they don't have anything that convenient. I cannot bend over and pick up anything off the ground.

I promise to supply my own fishing pole, tackle, bait and drinks.

    Thanks,
    Glenn, from the Sunshine State

zeke, RIVERVIEW is just north of JAX between 95 and 295W. Main drag is Lem Turner Rd (115). I was through there several years ago when I was at the NAS. My place is now on the other side of the state in Dixie County (Old Town) and I am there Oct to Mar. Rest of the time I live in New Hampshire.

Didn't make it down to Fl. this past winter. Lake Walkin The water has no campsites . Nearest one would be Kisimee State Park. The lake is shallow only couple spots 12 feet deep. Wonderful speck (crappie)and bass lake. It is huge 7900 acres approx. If you get down that way want to go P.M me I'll give you my phone #.

There is lots of good fishing near Riverview. Try Cockroach bay. its not far from you and there are lots of good size reds there. You can also get trout, snook, flounder, and jacks as well. I dont know how you fish but you can wade fish there, i did it for years before i got my kayak and boat. E.G simmons park is another good spot close by. Im not to sure about freshwater in that area, i live just north of Tampa. I just keep a rod in my car and when i see a good spot of water i pull over and throw in a line. I've caught lots of nice bass in small road side ponds that never get fished. Good luck.
