Originally posted by: MikeBass on 4/20/2001 1:01:00 PM My last outing was the weekend of the 7th and 8th. I fished the Hollows and Crystal Lake. The wind killed me at the Hollows, but I did land 2 large mouth (1 pounders). Caught one on a black, 4" Ho Daddy Texas rigged and the other on a dual willowleaf spinnerbait. I did not catch anything on Crystal Lake, but "we" caught one large mouth and a northern pike on deep diving crankbaits. On both lakes, the water is still cold so everything was caught deep. Good luck to those heading out this weekend. |

Fished the bank side trestle area using Kegara "Little Festus" jig fly tipped with a wax worm, crawlers also worked. The WIND was murder today, as you know there is no cover from it. Had a couple of small mouth but they were REAL small, took 2 keeper white bass, all in all, not a bad day for such a windy one.....

Caught around 9 or 10, but none were very big because the ponds are only a couple years old. Then we fished at Camp Sycamore and didn't get a bite. Imagine That. Wasted 4 dollars. But hey, got some good casting practice. Mike/LM/IL |

The brute measured 48ins, it was caught on a Baby Jerko, a small jerk bait. I don't know if the fisherman is a club member or not, his name is Keith Eldrup, the fish was caught on Bluff Lake during a event labled Challunge on the Chain, hosted by the Fox River Valley chapter. The fish was released, Keith earned an estimated check of $2500.00 for his efforts......

I can't believe no-one else has anything to share about fishing here in illinois, oh well, here's my BEEF, RAIN, RAIN, and more RAIN, fishing has been a challenge lately. Yesterday I visited Cook County's Tampier Lake, played with small gills and crappie, departed there and ended up at DuPage County's West Branch, water high, fishing was poor, the life of an illinois fisherman. Don't be SHY let me here from you PEOPLE......

I guess there are some members who THINK if they give out TO much info they RISK the possibility of others HOGGING their honey holes. I wish I could RUN into another member from time to time. It's NOT always important for ME to catch fish, but I VALUE meeting new friends that like to fish, that's more of a priority for me. Glad to hear that you had a wonderful OUTING, keep them COMING, keep in touch.....

I tried them opening day for walleye in northern Wisc. out fished everyone, it worked great, but they were all 16" males, females wern't feeding yet. Been to Bangs lake a few times, caught tons of crappie early may, sence then its been spoty, a few large mouth, walleye, northern. Blew a day off work last week and went to heideke, hy bred stripers were the fish of the day, biggest was around 8lbs. heard when I took the boat out that a 16lb. was caught that day also. I was useing blade baits and he got it on live shrinp. Leave for Canada a week from friday. I'll be checking back more offten, good fishing everyone.
