Well, I had some business to take care of in Chicago last weekend and had a chance to fish for the first time ever in Illinois. Lazarus had some info and some good tips about this farm pond he heard about. Now, judging from some other farm pond posts (exspecially from Jig-n-Pig), I thought we would be in for some heavy duty fishing. Well, after some dink gills, short bites, and one bass landed, we moved on to Mallard Lake - not before spotting a doe watching us from a few yards away. Mallard Lake was a small forest reserve lake that proved to be kind of slow on the action as well.

But........even though the fish weren't biting, we had a great day. The sun was out, the day was beautiful and any day your out fishing instead of at work - well, that and the chance to get to fish with your friends is the best.

Hey Pete, the frontal view don't look too bad. It's the profile that gives it away.

I caught that little LMB on a Hula Popper. An old old lure. I love it when fish hit a topwater.

I am bringing a lot of the older lures (including top water) to LaCrosse.  I also love it when fishies hit top water!
