Looks to be fair, I have heard we can expect good numbers but smaller fish. The Diporiea population is way down, this is the food source for the alewife and sculpin populations. We have the Zebra and Quagga mussels to blame. This is the reason for poor perch populations also.

My buddy and I had our best luck last season fishing at night. It is an adjustment that can be made if you have a properly rigged boat. We fish out of North Point on a 30' Trojan. We rigged cocpit and transom lights so that we could net and land fish. Works well in my opinnion. Let's move this to the Salmon and Trout section and perhaps get more input!

Just got back from the boat. Not in the water yet, but my buddy and I are ready. The boat is getting a fresh coat of epoxy on the bottom this year, and we are wating for that job to be finished, launch should be the 3rd week of this month. Anyone else getting ready? Tom

Got out on Mich. yesterday, no salmon, we were fishing for perch east of waukeegan. We did OK but not good enough to make it worth a vacation day. I had to do something, the Fox river is so high it is closed to boat traffic for about 45 miles from Montgomery to the outlet of Pistakee lake, and the Chain proper is all no wake. Not fun. Tom

Straight out from Waukegan Harbor to the closed power plant I trolled back and forth and I would gat at least 1-2 fish per pass. Unfortunately, they were not the big kings that I was wanting to catch, but that's fine because there were still plenty of fish caught.
