    Hello Fellow Anglers,

I'll be moving to the Roscoe, IL area from WI soon and I'm looking for any tips regarding fishing in the area.  I'll be near the Rock River, but I'm also looking for any useful information regarding lakes in Winnebago County.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you and happy fishing!

Spider: Pierce lake at Rock Cut St Pk can be awsome. If you don't mind a ride, Lake Le-Aquna-Na in Lena can be good for Muskie. Also check out Lk. Shabbona in DeKalb Cty. PM me for more info. Tom

I appreciate the feedback.  I'm thinking Pierce will probably be one of my first targets just because its closest.  What can I expect to find?  My usual favorite is bass fishing, but I do a little musky, northern pike, walleye fishing as well.

    Fishing and Boating

One of the park’s most popular activities is fishing Pierce Lake - named for state Rep. William Pierce of Rockford, who served in the legislature from 1951-1966 and who proposed the first land acquisition for the park in 1955. The lake is stocked with largemouth bass, bluegill, redear sunfish and channel catfish, as well as bullhead, northern pike, muskellunge and walleye. Pierce Lake will allow any size engine on the lake, however, engines over 10 hp can operate at No Wake speed only. Paddle & Trail Bait Shop is open at Pierce Lake with Canoe, Kayak and boat rentals, they also have various types of bait available. for more information and prices, please call 815/885-4740. Pierce lake also has docks and two launching ramps available. Olson Lake also offers excellent fishing. Carry on watercraft and electric motors only.

I' ve fished there many times.  If you'd like to get together and go there, just let me know. Check out the links below.   Brian

Thank you for the info and the links.  Once I've moved I'm going to the hit the water as soon as possible.  I haven't been able to get my boat in the water for the past couple years, so I'm really chomping at the bit.  I've been doing a bit of shoreline fishing with my kids, but there's so much more water to cover!

Spider: It will probably take you some time to figure out Pierce Lk, but it should be worth the effort. It is a productive lake and close to home for you. If you are into panfish, check at the concession stand for the location of the cribs, they should be able to help. You can catch Walleye at the west end of the lake near the dam and the island (if it is not under water) This is also the deepest part of the lake. Tom
