So anyone out hitting the lakes/ponds this weekend? Anyone Having luck? I was going to head out to Spring Lake today, but my girlfriend and I BOTH had to get our plates renewed. Both bought our trucks in the same month, only a year apart before we knew each other. Go figure! So needless to say, with $200 out just for the plate renewal, we had to cancel our trip this weekend. Though the next paycheck is our 4 day Camping/Fishing Trip! And wandering through Walmart late last night, we ran across a camp stove for $32. It may not be the "Coleman camp stove" but it's still a bigger name in camping (Ozark Trails) Scott Miller

When all else fails, at least you can still bait the line and go fishing.

Got out on a local lake today and nailed a few small 'gills, the DIL caught a small smallmouth. Went over to our local Wal-Mart for groceries and such on Thurs, and what do I see leaving the lot but a Rolls Royce! Tom Lifer in NE Illinois |

Go figure. Big spenders hitting up Walmart cuz they can't afford anything else! Just like those who buy HUGE houses, and can't afford to furnish them, or get drapes or anything. Scott Miller

Still struggling, spent some time yesterday with only a few small 'gills to show, and I mean small. I've used bigger golden roaches for bait! The DIL did catch a small smallmouth, which suprised me, didn't know the lake held any! Tom Lifer in NE Illinois |

I fished the Mississippi River near Clinton, IA with a few friends yesterday and btween the 3 of us we caught about 4 LM Bass. Tried Walleye fishing first on a few wingdams but didn't catch anything. So we headed up toward the dam and trolled the shoreline. We've been catching Bass on RoardRunner spinners this year.

Hopefully regardless of what you did or didn't catch, you had a good weekend. Anytime I get out to the lake I find it enjoyable. Camping and fishing just go hand in hand. Nothing like a night by the campfire, and sleeping in the tent. Scott Miller

Snuck out for a couple of hours today. Looks like things are finally starting to heat up around here. My fish came almost 50/50 on crawlers or Mini Mites. I don't know what kind of magic they put in the Minis but they sure catch fish! Tom Lifer in NE Illinois |

Well that's great to hear. I'll be down in Lake Shelbyville in 2 weeks, and I'm hoping the get away will prove to be productive for the fishing! I really wanna be able to enjoy the weekend by catching some NICE fish! The largemouth are supposed to be excellent in shelbyville, but wonder how it's gonna be for me since I'm a bank fisherman.

Oh, I'm sure there is, but I can't afford to rent a boat. Besides, I'd rather be hitting the banks, and taking in the scenes. Maybe if I ever win the Lotto, I'll be able to afford a boat, til then, I'll take my bank fishing.

We had a lot of rain here in northern Illinois, the Waterway Agency has the Fox river at no wake. Hopefully the water level on the lakes will come up a tad. The rain usually improves the fishing in the local ponds, of course I will be out of town for this! I am going to try and get out if only breifly tomorrow. Tom |

Yea, unfortunately with the camping/fishing trip coming next week, I'm sure the lake level will drop back down, unless it rains quite a bit between now and then. I'm just looking forward to getting away, and having some relaxing times next week. |

Went down to the pond today only to find the level up by at least 18", I have never seen it this high in 11 years of fishing, and to look at some of the marks, by the time I got there the level had dropped some. Needless to say the catching was nonexistent. Tom |

This is more of a test, I want to try posting a pic. If this takes, it is a picture of the approach to the pier at my local pond. OK, so much for that idea! Tom |

Fished Lake Carlton in Morrison, IL on Thursday 5/20/2010. Started out fishing for Muskie but didn't get any hits. Went back to what was catching fish this spring. Using a chartreuse roadrunner with an oragne 3" twistertail I caught a 11.5 pound 27.5 Inch Channel Catfish. Yeah on a Roadrunner!!!!!!! http://www.facebook.com/profile.php...1415653002 |

Well, it wasn't the weekend, but I did get out last night for a little while on the local lagoon which is about 5 blocks away last night. But it was just as storms were starting to build up. Had some bites, but didn't hook up on anything. I think the bites were probably coming from the lil fish anyways. If it's not storming, I'll try to get out again tonight after work for a few hours. |
