My wife and I are heading out Thursday to fish at Stone Arch in Atterbury. Does anyone know if they are bitting? I use culprits texas rigged and she uses minnows and goldfish. So we have options as to what they may be hitting on. If anyone knows about this lake or any close to this area please pass it along. We are from Florida where lakes and ponds are full of big bass and everywhere. Here we have to drive forever to find a good spot. We take the kids fishing also so if you know a good kid friendly lake that helps as well. Thank you in advance and good luck this season!!!

Ok,,,,,,,,went fishing at Atterbury today and had no luck at all! That was on two of the lakes there. I am now wondering if the rumours are true that is has been fished to death. We went to Stone Arch and Beaver Bottom. Even tried Driftwood. Makes me wonder if there are any fish in Johnson County.  Hope to have better luck next time.

We may try Atterbury and Driftwood later on in the season. We wasn't happy with them enough to go back anytime  soon.

Now the strip pits that are down by Dugger and Greene- Sullivan better look out! We will be fishing them this weekend. Hope to have a positive post by Monday.

As for Shakes and Graveyard,,On Shakes there are 2 pits. Both are good lakes to fish. Clear water with plants along the bottom. I have had awesome luck using a texas-rigged worm. If you have a boat the far back corners are where to go! From the shore my wife has caught plenty using nightcrawlers and goldfish. Let me know how you do! Graveyard is a good lake with live bait also. Try the coves on the NE side. Rubber worm is a tried and true method for me though.

Do you know of any other pits in this area that are good to fish and with what bait?

Gravel pits by the car dealer,,,,,Driftwood? Its ok for cats. Have heard there are large musky in there. I have never caught a musky, but want too. Being from central Florida I guess the closest I have came to a musky is a alligator gar. The fishing down there is a whole lot different than up here. Thats prolly why we go home 2 to 3 times a year.

The gravel pits and the atterbury lakes all hold good bass. Come up to Fayette and union county to try Whitewater lake and the river. Both hold real good bass.

This weekend if the weather holds out I am taking my kids out to Manlove for some sank fishing with bee larve. I would love to wrangle with the 6 pounder I seen let go in there a few years ago. Wish us luck!

S.E.J you asked about any other lakes lately,,,, went out to the strip pits in Dugger few days ago and caught a few. They are still holding tight to the cover and deep. Plan on going back when they get off the beds and hate anything that comes near! Down there for some reason they hit hard and fight hard. Its great fun. I like to use ultra-lite spinning gear so they feel like whales!

Manlove has been very heavily fished for the past few weeks, I havent had too much luck there. LAst weekend I lost a 5-6 lb bass at the bank there. Whitewater is crystal clear, but idk what it will be like if we get all the rain they say we are supposed to get. Good luck.

My kids like to fish for the bluegills,so hopefully they are plentiful. We go over to coner by the spill-way. So what were you using to catch the one that got away? Is it still 3 dollars for the permit? ....The way the weather is looking Sunday may be our day to fight em'.

If you are taking kidsd with you I would reccomend Whitewater over Manlove, If the river isnt up I would trie the Whitewater river for white bass. THey use rooster tails and little white jigs. Manlove is very MOSSY already.

Whitewater under the waterloo bridge or out by Liberty? My kids still use a cane pole so I think they are better off at Manlove. Now this summer when they go to Florida you can bet I will be at the river alot.My favorite spot is out by Liberty. You can wade that section pretty well and find the good spots. Plus I love to take my Jeep out there and thrash the crap out of the mud holes back by the gravel place. You ever do that?

I fished at the gravel pits and the water is higher than I have ever seen it before. I caught two and lost one at the boat.

Well we didnt get to make it out to Manlove. We did however go out to Dugger this weekend. Kids caught a few big bluegill. The wife beat our a** off! She was using goldfish about 2ft deep. My last count was 8 in the 1-3lb range. That was around 1130. We started at 9 and finished until 3  or 4. I tried everything from spinners to worms. Sorry SEJ but she beat us. I tried and tried but could not catch a thing. The score stands from this weekend Wife-A LOT,,,Me-not a damn thing.

To another note I tried the free Gander Mountain bug stuff and it worked on everything except ticks. I HATE those things and was crawling with them. Thank goodness I have to wear long socks because of a leg brace so they didnt get on my  skin. I have tried most everything to keep them off. No luck. Does anyone know of a really good product to use?  Also the gnats were really bad. Please help!

    Thanks.

kerosine or diesel around your ankles usually works for me. Mamlove is almost completely covered with moss there are only a few open spots. I found a really nice lake in New Castle its called Westwood. I didnt fish there just drove around it it looks really clean, its really big for electric motor only.
