Hey, Im in Ottawa, over by Lawrence.  New to NAFC, and noticed you wanted to start up a chapter here.  I just got out of the USMC in December, and am just waiting for the weather to warm up some more.  Unfortunately, my tackle was lost, so I had to go out and get all new gear.  If anybody wants to go out to Pomona or Melverne lake, I have an 18' Evinrude with a 45HP outboard to use, still needs to be registered & insured though.  You can get ahold of me at thetalker556@hotmail.com

Welcome new members. This is your chance to get in on the founding of a new Kansas based fishing club. Please leave a post describing yourself, name, age, location and interests. We will welcome all new members, but are looking for those that would be willing to take an active part in starting this club. We will need some people with leadership skills and computer skills. We will need to make and distribute fliers to attract new members. I hope that eventually we will be having several small meets and club tournaments. To do this we will need lots of help.

Name is Ryan, live in Wichita can tear up farm ponds but lack the boat to really do much good on the lakes around here.  Think I have good skills, they're a little unorthodox but work for me.  I like to fish for pretty much anything that is biting but usually stick to Bass and Channel Cat.  Early 30's here same as my wife who I also love to take fishing and she can hold her own on the water.  Just now getting the youngen out on the lakes, he's 2 1/2 so he's got a lot to learn but he has fun out there.  Pretty good with the computer so if you need any help feel free to contact me

Good to hear from you Ryan. Welcome to the club. I took  green lantern to one of my ponds today. He's new to bass fishing so he was on a learning curve but caught a few. Don't want to brag but I caught a few more. We are just getting this thing going so stay with us as we figure it out. We need to decide what we want out of it and how far to take it. I'm 40 and have 3 teen girls. I have a nice small boat ,perfect for ponds and community lakes or any lake on calm days. Do you have a truck? We are going to do some sort of get together the last weekend of may, hope you can make it.

Wife and I took the boy up to Chisolm North and got skunked, never been there and didn't see anyone else catch anything so I didn't feel to bad.  We went to a family members farm pond yesterday and did catch some bass we had stocked in it last year so still feeling the high from that.  We've been dying to get out fishing this year and with the weather being so up and down it's been killin' us.  I got a Merc. Mountaineer with a V8 to pull our coleman pop-up to the lakes.  Wife has a Merc. Mariner and i told her shes gonna be pulling the boat to the lake when we get one.  Sorry this post is so long, lol.  Our big problem is getting access to spots on good lakes and really any ponds or small lakes in the area.  We have pretty good luck in areas that don't get the pressure of the Wichita area lakes just don't get that many chances to get on good water.  I'm sure we're gonna be able to make it to any events in the area.  Nice to hear from you guys!

My name is Dominic.  I'm 27.  I fish as much as I can and I solely fish for bass.  I'm big into cover/structure fishing.  If I'm not pulling up weeds every few casts then I'm not fishing in the right stuff!  I do plan on learning more deep water fishing as a backup though.  I'm not familiar with sonar units very well yet.  I have a Nitro 16 foot boat.  I do prefer the county lakes due to no sport boating getting in my way.  I would love to find some more farm ponds that I can take my dad and brother to so they can catch some fish.  I don't mind fishing six hours and getting one fish because I'm always perfecting techniques.  I go fish alone many times since I plan on using the whole day to fish and I'm rather quiet.  But if anyone wants to tag along I would never mind.  I will be glad to help in the ks chapter any way I can.  Email is Huskyhush@hotmail.com.

    Welcome Dominic

I'ts good to see a new Wichita member. If we could get the word out, there should be lots of kansan's interested. I'm leaving Wed. morning for a tournament on Grand. Next week we need to get with everyone and finalize a fishing meet. The small lake that I have access to is only available on the weekend of May 31st. There are a few members that can't make that date. But it seems to be the best for most of us. How obout Rodrigo? are you still on for the 31st? I know joe will be there. I will try to round up a few friends that are interested but havn't joined NAFC.  Thats it for now. Talk more next week.

Hi I'm also here in Ottawa and have fished many of the lakes and ponds in Kansas. Love to fish for what ever is biting. I currently have a small canvas boat with trolling motor and do pretty good. I'm up grading this summer to an aluminum boat and small outboard...come on warm weather!!! I would love to see a chapter in Kansas. I work as a chef at K.U. and feed small and large groups, so if anyone is interested in a good ole' fish fry let me know. I would like to contribute to the club in any way to get it going and keep it going.

Kevin, I was wondering if you were going to do the Meet again this year.  It was so great last year all of the guys from KC want to come back.  If you think this is a little obtuse of me, ya gotta realize I caught more fish in that one day than I have since the middle of Oct until the next fish I catch.  So I'm trying to encourage you to do it again.  Please let us know.

Well, I just stopped by for a peak to see if anything was going on here. I spend most of my online time on    thebassholes.com  now. It's free and that's where most of the old nafc guys went. Hey it never hurts to ask, does it. I just might have to do that again. Tell you what Rodrigo, You join the bassholes and get the rest of the KC guys to join and put me down as the reference to the site and your on. I am know as ksbasser on the bassholes and I now have a reel repair business.  proreelservice.com    check it out.

I live just inside the Mo. border 1 mile from the KS state line. I hope to be a member of an NAFC chapter in both states.

Steve Casteel  KC, MO. age 52, .. Self employed - for now in Fishing rod and reel repair, and tackle sales.

Fishing experience 47 yrs+ in both states. Like to fish for Crappie and Walleye the most. LMB, Catfish, and other Panfish follow my two favorites.

Have fished and know the Reserviors of Hillsdale Melvern, & Pomona very good and the power plant at La Cygne, Ks..

Have also fished some at Council Grove, John Redmond, Milford, Perry and Tuttle Creek Res. as well. And know a creek on the KS side  I can go to with anyone. Fished it since spring of 1962 [age 5]

On the Mo side, have fished Harry S. Truman Res. above and below the dam since it was opened in the 70's.

Always willing to go out with NAFC members. Would like to fish by boat more than the bank, but will do both. Dislocated an Ankle in Nov of 07' and must watch bank fishing more closely than I used to.

Been with Rodrigo several times,  Miles, and a friend of Rodrigo's and was at the Wichita fishing get-to-gether in 2008.  May or may not be able to attend this yr.

Unfortuneatly a lot of us must watch the bank more closely than we used to hahaha

I hope that your biz works out well for you and maybe we will run into each other this year somewhere!

I have a sister in law that lives in KCK and I have looked at quite a few places to fish up there but have never had the time to do anything about it.

Wish you  a good day and may you spend it fishing!
