We went out to a small private pond Sunday morning. Caught a lot of nice bass on a variety of lures. I'm fishing a big bass tournament next weekend and wanted to get some experience with the hollow bodied swim baits. I have heard they work great for big bass and I can now say that I'm a believer. I have fished this lake a lot and the biggest I have caught before was 5 lbs. When i used the 4.5 in. bass magic swim bait I caught several 4 lb plus fish and this 6.8 lb bucket mouth. My buddy also caught several 4 lb plus and his big pig weighed 5.10 lbs. I hit every store in town today and now have several bags of various size swim baits.

Always fun learning how to use something new and that it works well.  I have done that with the gulp 3 inch shad baits and using a certain weight jig head where it falls quickly just tears the fish up.  I have caught everything on them, but they don't last long.  But I'm out buying these packs because I have so much success.  Just what I want to do... have thousands of other lures and I'm here buying more new ones.  I cleaned out my boxes a bit, but still have lots of lures to use up.  Good luck on your tournament.  Would love to be able to fish in them, but very tough with me working two jobs.

Nice fish and glad to hear you had a wonderful trip.

I saw those fish and tried to reply the other day, but my computer had other ideas.  Great fish, I hope the tournament goes well.
