This is funny.  My OB died last summer about when gas was $4/gallon.  I hadn't gotten it fixed because money was tight.  2 wks ago I told my wife that I really wanted it to work for father's day and on Friday, I got out the manual and decided, I'd try to fix it.  I got out the tub, the rack and hooked up the electrical and the gas. I pumped the bulb, pulled the choke and just because, I hit the starter switch.  Know what?  It started on the first time.  Now I was convinced last year it was the electric starter, right now idk, but it worked so I went fishing with a friend on saturday.  We were on the lake at about 5:40am.  He caught the first and second fish, a channel cat and small bass.  Then he found a small tacklebox floating in the water.  A while later, I caught a 2# 12oz lmb.  We switched and began trolling and I caught several small wipers.  Feeling bad for Keith on the next fish I hooked, I handed him my rod and he reeled in a 16" saugeye.  Son of a gun!  I've caught 1 walleye in the state of KS, in my life, and I give away a saugeye.  Oh well I tell him if it's over 15" he can keep it and they're supposed to be really good to eat.  We head down to the dam to troll and can't find a fish.  On the way back to where we were before, I get hung up and ultimately retrrieve someones fishing pole.  We troll some more and I lose a nice fish when it swims right at me and I can't reel in fast enough.  Then I lose another and a lure.  I fish with 10# power pro on this rod and use Cabellas flouro for the leader.  Usually, if I break off, it's at a knot, but I had been checking my leader and had already retied several times because it was getting pretty beat up.  Anyway this 2nd big fish gets an old Big O lure and we both put on new lures.  The Keith gets bit and it's big. These fish run like crazy and this one had several great runs in it.  It got Keith's spool down over halfway and I decided to chase it w the boat.  Obviously we got it in.  The scale read 9#, but we were using his new scale.  I didn't think to check with my scale, but when I got the picture up on my puter, that fish looks bigger than 9#, I think his scale is off.  Anyway we get back to the courtesy dock and find out we'd kept a short fish.  For that lake it's 18" for saugeyes.  Oh snap!  I didn't believe the guy until I looked at the sign and sure enough, I'd remembered it wrong.  So the irony is we keep a short fish and release all the legal keepers.  All told it was a great day, except the short fish, and that only makes the story funnier.  Tight lines.

Hey Panhead, We were down at Pamona a couple of weekends ago when they were letting a lot of water out below the dam.  Next time we go I'll send an email or PM and perhaps we can meet up.
