Thanks Gentlemen for your reply's, I completely agree to your advise of taking another adult, That is something we always did while I was involved in scouting, we called it two deep leadership then, I have no idea what they call it now, But yes I agree. I would like to get with you too, it just a Lil hard right now as I am in the process of retiring from active duty.  I do want to get something started this spring though. I am going trout fishing this weekend here at Ft.Riley...wish me luck as its going to be my first wet line of the season. I will try to call you soon my # is 785-762-3730

    Hello Everyone,

I am Robert Acridge (SGT, U.S. ARMY) soon to be retired and I have been toying with the idea of starting a Youth fishing program here in the Junction City area, I want to focus on "Troubled" Youth as I live close to a facility that houses these young people and I would like to try and mentor them and be available to them. I would love to get in contact with some like minded Folks and try to set up a real program. Maybe evan try to get some sort of state backing? I do have a couple of boats and I currently take soldiers fishing, but I would like to expand my efforts as an "Ambassador" to get more youth involved in outdoor projects. If anyone is interested in helping me or have ideas? please feel free to email me.

    Thanks
       Robert L. Acridge

That is very commendable, I used to take children from the wichita shelter fishing once in a while until I broke my back and even then I took a few of them out but the last three were brothers and their mother moved her parole to Missouri and then somehow got custody and since then I have not been to active.

If I were to give any advice I would have to say take another adult with you !

    Have a good day !!

Would love to meet with you face to face and talk more about it.

I live in South KC, Mo.  so Junction City , KS. is easy to drive to.

Or maybe we could talk on the phone, as what  I want to discuss would take too long to type.  I have been in rod/reel repair and tackle sales for 27 yrs. I am sure I could help you somehow.

    My home phone # [816] 326-7891

    Congrats on the upcoming retirment.

When you are free, then we can get together and have a serious discussion.

I would love to help, but will have to find out in what capacity.

BigRed1610 ..... I was watching the TV station VERSUS on 4 /25-26 / and seen two fishing shows with web sites that might give you some more info for your youth program. Might want to see if they have any info you can use.

One was  Castforkids.org  /// it seems to be the best for what you want.

The other is a long shot, = a show called Fishing University  www.FishingUniversity.com

It apparently teaches how to fish. But for adults only or kids too?

BigRed1610,... What's the latest news on your Youth Fishing Program?

Are you going to continue it, or given up on the idea?

I am still interested in your project if you are still going to try and do it.
