Hello Kentucky.  I have had something on my chest for some years now. It is the matter of how our land, rivers and streams are being destroyed buy litter bugs. I live in southeastern Ky in Perry Co and despite all of the trash that is in our rivers and streams we still have some best fishing in this wonderful nation. I feel that this state has alot to offer tourist if we would just utilize our natural resources. I cant help but wonder what it would be like to drive down the road and see hundreds of outdoors people wade fishing in our watterways. Also the amount of money that would come into our state by means of tourists that would come from both near and far just to catch some of our trophie smallies. I know that our river systems could support a much more diverse population of fish than they currently do. I feel that if we come together as a team and clean up our land, rivers and streams the possibilities are endless. I so wish that I could take my children down to my childhood favorite fishing hole and show them what swims in these waters, rather that tell them how it used to be. I think that if we pull together now and change the things we can. We will be setting a great example for the younger generations for years to come. I have always been told that actions speek louder than words. So stand up Kentucky and be heard.

Howdy David ! Well said ! Not just for us Kentuckians but all over. Many anglers have forgotten the ethics their "Mentors" taught them or they just dont care. Every year things seem to get worse. I know many states, like KY have volunteer clean up days where people walk miles of shoreline to clean up other peoples messes . Heaven forbid each angler, boat or shore, carried a trash bag and actually USED IT !! I DO. And anyone who fishes with me gets the lesson also !! This is one of the reasons we want to start a KY NAFC Chapter. Fellowship, friendship, education and of course "FISHING" in clean water. I feel this would also give us a forum within the state to make our voices heard. Strength in numbers you know.  So, if you may be interested in helping me to get this thing off the ground please contact me. Future generations have the right to catch and release as well and not to just hook BEER cans. Thanks for your concern and consideration. Now, lets make it HAPPEN !!!Joe Gassman, 270-877-0446 H 270-272-8703 C , or animalhouse3764@yahoo.com. Fish-dunct-ional on the clubs web site. Looking forward to hearing from you. Oh, I'm in Radcliff, just outside Ft. Knox. Not too far from you.

I couldn't begin to remember how many times I have picked up trash around a pond or creek when I have been fishing.  It really pisses me off to find it.  I saw a sign over in Indiana one time that really fits, it said "Only trashy people throw trash from their vehicles."  That is a perfect description of the folks who contribute to the roadside, and streamside dumps.  I have found trash with people's name and address in it, and tried reporting it to the law, but they say that unless they are actually caught in the act, there's nothing that they can do.
