If there are fish in this lake, I can't find them.

I went shore fishing today from noon untill sundown and fished three seperate locations.

First was the second boat ramp accessed from Okland. I fished texas rigged berkley worms and carolina rigged worms. Came up without even a nibble. As a side note, a member of my fishing team was lost here. A shakespear crappie Rod I've had for three years snapped it's tip off and I was unable to locate the eyelit.

Second location I went across the river to another inlet accessed from an abandoned fire access road on the other side of the bridge from the boat ramps. Here I fished everything in my takle box, from the plastics to the buzz baits. There was a nice stack of timber in fairly deep water there and I was sure it would hold smallies. Again not even a nibble.

Finaly on a tip from a local I went up to the bridge on RT 32 and climbed down the bank on the far side from eldersburg. This looked like a mighty fine spot too. It appeared to be a narrow portion of the main channel. There were a lot of trees overhanging the water and the water got deep fast. This time I fished everything BUT the buzz baits but with still no love.

In coclusion I'm going back out again tomorrow and if I get skunked again I'll probly try another lake. I was wanting to head up to that susquehanna but I didn't feel like spending the day looking for water access. I'll let ya all know how it goes tomorrow.

    Hello,

I am sorry to hear about your luck. I also have fished at Liberty from the bank with no luck. On the other hand when I go out on my Boat I have always caught a very nice collection of smallmout and even a few walleye. I go out every chance i get because I always have a great time and bring home enough to fill an army. if youd like some ideas and or pictures give me an email at g8tkpr4101965@aol. good luck

This is an old thread, I know. But I just got back from Iraq (to find my account was no longer active, thus the low post numbers) and that fire acess road you mentioned is somthing I know well. It takes some work but I've managed to pull collectivly 8 or 9 smallies out of that timber. Everyone of them has been on some kind of frog lure. I did Have a hit on a top water popper but It threw the hook.

I've never caught anything anywhere else on liberty. I think it's best to fish that lake by boat.
