So Jason and I went out the susquehanna today to see if we could scare up some eyes. We didn't but had a good time anyway. We DID see four deer swiming across the river, a couple of which got out of the water about 20 meters from us. Was really cool to see. I think he got a picture on his phone. My camera died just as I was zooming in on them. After Jason left I went up to the dam but they were letting so much water out that it was flooded all the way up to that first landing on the wooden steps. Fishing down there was not an option. I went further down and tried fishing from the boat ramp but the current was so heavy everything I threw out was pulled only a few feet from shore within seconds. So I went back to where the stream (I forget it's name) feeds into the river and fished around by the bridge. There was some real nice water right there, the mudd from the fast river making clouds in the clear water coming from the stream I saw a number of flat looking, largeish fish swiming around in the mud clouds. I didn't get any to bite (well, bite well. I had a bite or two that I didn't set the hook in time) add another 10 or 15 degrees to that water and that spot will be killer. I DID manage to hit a fish with one of my jigs (I was casting at where I saw them, but not trying to snag them) and apparently my hook hit it's side because when I got my lure back there was a single fish scale impaled on my hook. That was very odd. Anyway, thats all I got. Jason, next time we go out there, if they're running the water we need to go down to that bridge. |

Scruffy, the more the merryer. I think Jason and I have tentative plans to go back out next saturday, weather permitting (I draw the line at fishing in snow). The thing i'm learning about that river is you really have to base what you do and where you go off of what the dam is doing. The bridge I fished at yesterday is a fantastic spot (sure I didn't catch anything, but when you SEE dinner plate sized fish swimming around, it just means i'm not a good fisherman.) when the dam is really letting the water out. I've seen it before where there was very little water there and probably didn't hold many fish. |

ok well the fish you were seeing was a type of shad that run every spring they will hit a small shad dart or a small shad spoon or a castmaster or even a small twester tall jig you will have to try deffernt colors like green, yellow, blue, pink, white or peral they work real good. the fish are chatch anr relase only but they put up a real good fight and jump just like tarpon. the bridge you were at is called deer creek and that spot gets real crouded when the fish are there it will be shoulder to shoulder but the fishing is reel good there. the white perch will be running soon and you can get them form that spot as well. i will have to let you know when i go up there some time and put you on some good fishing spots up in that area. i have fished up there for at least 16 years or longer and know were to wet wade and find some real big small mouth bass in the 4 to 5lb range not far form the creek i have pic of some big ones i will bring with me when i go fishing. the big stripers will be here soon as well i pic of me and a 45lb 12oz and over 50in long it was a good night. if you have a email i can send you a few pic of the fish and some walleye as well. well talk to you later stan |

I kinda thought they were shad but since I wasn't sure I didn't want to announce their arival since I know a lot of people get excited about that. They were big and moving in schools. I got a few hits on a rat-l-trap that I was casting but no hookups so they were behaving pretty agressivly. I'll probably grab some shad darts for my next trip out. |

hey scruffy , if you drive about five miles from waysons into upper marlboro that lil creek there by the r.c. dirt track behind the court house is usually loaded with perch this time of year up until the white perch stop running thick , i myself always found waysons to be a mid-summer evening catfishin' hole, i remember when i was a kid my cousin used to live in that lil strip of houses goin down along side the road that leads to the peir, and back when the old bridge was still there we'd camp out under the bridge and build a fire and catch cats all night long and even wash a few right there and cook'em on the open fire, dont know iffin id do it now though seeing as the area has gotten pretty polluted since then i mean this was over 20 years ago lol ,awe man the memories ....happy castin', man im missin' md fishin'

I can't believe that we got skunked. I thought we would have caught something. We did throw everything that we have at them. I think that the water was moving to fast to fish that area. But that will be a good spot for when the shad start to run. As for next weekend I should be good for Saturday but don't know what time yet. Will know later this week. Who's in for this Saturday? The big question is where to go? |

hey guys i use to fish the lil rivers that run under RT 40 between edgewood and aberdeen the first one is in abingdon it sits right next to the body shop just before abingdon rd going towards aberdeen . i use to have good luck with bass in the side that run towards edgewood and other side was good for cat and i caught a couple of striper and black bass in there if you go up to the one just before mitchell rd you can get bass & yellow perch there if you turn down mitchell rd. and make the first right at the lil pump house there i use to catch bass , yellow & white perch there as well just a lil tip for yas i will be there from this sunday till next friday so if you wanna check out those places feel free there also another lil stream that runs behind the western auto in egdewood on rt 40 you have to drive back in the homes there and park in the parking lot to get to it it is kind of strange to get to and you might wanna recon the area first but i use to catch yellow pearch there also if you dont feel comfortable in getting to that spot just wait to get there and ill show you how to get to it one day when we are out looking at places to fish . i know of a couple of other places in edgewood to fish also the one you have to take about a 15 minute hike to get to and the other is deep in egdewood down by willoughby beach .and today was a skunk day for me as well although i did catch a wallet it had no money in it .which made it a even worst situation , lol, though if it did have cash in it i would have prolly called the guy that owned it anyways , maybe i would have got a lil reward of some kind money wise. the only reward i got was the satisfaction that i returned a really nice leather wallet to it's owner N.A.F.C LIFER Happy fishing and keep kicking bass lol B.A.S.S. |

Went out Sat. morning and got skunked. The wind was too much for my fragile self. After two hours I went home and did some electrical stuff and painted. (it don't matter if the horse is blind.Just load the cart anyway!... John Madden Hall of Fame Coach)
