There are striper, smallmouth largemouthbass, walleye, catfish, crappie, white perch, yellow perch, blue gill, carp...Pick a fish, i can help you at liberty. I ve been fishing there alot. If your looking for eaters right now target white perch and stripers with chicken liver and cut bait. Fish the long points around Nicodemous bridge. Fish the cut bait and livers (use a golf ball size peice of liver) on a #2 treble hook no weight on 8-12 lb  test line. Cast it out as far around and on the points as you can. Leave your bail open and place the rod a y shaped stick. Wait till the line starts to peel off the reel  close the bail and set the hook. I like mine deep fried please......good luck and tight lines.

I am new to the Maryland area and have fished the Liberty Reservoir several times from the shore.  Only have caught on largemouth on these outings.  I am hoping someone might have some tips on what the fish in this reservoir like to eat.  I have seen decent sized fish jumping (tends to be in deep water for some reason), but have no idea what they are.  Any information would be great, even if it is for some other good fishing spots in the Columbia, MD area.

    Tight lines to all...

Howdy, Welcome to Maryland. I think you should scout the place. I would look for visible structure( fallen trees, points, rocks). Take a look around and see what bugsand baitfish are out. I would try 6" worms first or go with live shinners. There are no natural lakes in Maryland so they mostly have mud bottoms and are deep as hell. The was they made them was to Damn the stream so it can have steep drop offs. You might be able to find maps online. Also try Rocky Gorge and Tridelphia (you need to get a WSSC permit). They are on the map and are huge and deep
