not to slight anyone. i have been wanting to join a local club for a while but if i have to travel all the way to the other end or other side of the state i would not be able to do it. as it sounds like its the same for other members also.

I have to agree with you on that one, and maybe we could take it a step further. The flyfishers guide to MI divided the state into six sections as to cover the water that varies in each. Eastern UP, Western UP, Northwestern LP, Norhteastern LP, Southwestern LP, and the Southeastern LP. It's only one more section, but it will help our UP friends get themselves going as well. Then, we could hold monthly, bi-monthly, seasonal or yearly tournaments between the different groups to get everybody together so we can be a stonger organization. We could hold 50/50 raffles and prize raffles to help fund our organization to eventually get us either a sectional headquarters building and meeting hall or just to pay winnings for the sections tournaments. Also, I know some folks won't enter the tournaments in their areas because even $20 is alot to pay for a tournament every week or so cause gas prices are so high. Well, why not host $5 tournaments for fun, and we could pay the entry fee every week or every other week for three months and do pay outs from that smaller sum that let's us all fish, but have more fun doing it. All the extra details would be handled by individual sections of the club, and would thus vary. However, with the right work and the willingness, we may be able to actually have a true "Liar's Paradise."
