i would like to welcome both of you guys to the boards. jump right in and have some great fun........just remember to wear yer wadders because it can get deep at times..........with all the kidding aside, almost all the lakes around have crappie in them. i don't know about how good the fishing would be on any of them around lansing, but i do know that several lakes less than an hours drive have great fishing in them. i live between battle creek and kalamazoo and i do pretty good on crappie on several lakes around me.

good luck and if i can find out more info for ya i'll be posting....also let us know what ya find out and how well you do.       mr bill

jeffanator, right now the crappie are moving into very shallow water to warmer water. look to the northeast end of a lake or a shallow muck bay and be looking for wood, reeds and/or rocks for cover. this weekend looks very promising for a good outing for crappie.

also need to fish more during low light times, such as sun rise or sun set.small minnows would be my 1st. choice. but wax warms should work too, on a small jig or a #8 hook. if you have a fly rod then i would be bring that out also in the next few days and start checking for the surfice action.

What MrBill said is true, but he knows that I like the dynamite method the best!!! I'm up here in Big Rapids, and the crappies are hitting hot and furious on small shiners with pink 1/8 oz jigs.
