    anyone from the alpena area? just wondering . the reason really asking is my gf cant handle going down to the river all the time and i kinda hate going by my self i dont own a car or boat but would like to have someone to hang out with while fishing

    smccann welcome to the club and i sure hope ya get someone ta go out with ya. i've done alot of fishing in the alpena area for several years. my 1st. wife was from there.

    fished the rocks around the harbor area for smallies and perch everytime i made it up there. got a lot of cats too. pike were the main fish we got behind the 9th st. dam-- no big ones thou-- along with crappie and gills. fished long lake north of town for eye's and smallies.

    i love the area for camping and fishing. lots of lakes to try and plenty of camping space. i like to camp at big bear lake about half way between gaylord and alpena. i also like to fish fletchers pond.
