FishingMinnesota.com is a great website/forum to get the latest on what's happening on some of the lakes and rivers in Minnesota. I visit the site just about every day. Both the fishingminnesota.com and NAFC fishing forums are almost like a fishing bible! :)

Hey guys, I'm gonna be gettin' back up to the Cass Lake chain this July. I haven't been up there since 1994 when I was 12 years old. So my memory of the lake itself is vague at best. All I have is an old Topo map that my grandfather has from 1983. It's about the size of my hand so it's basically no help what-so-ever on a lake the size of Cass. I cannot seem to find any Topo maps anywhere. I don't have anything to download to a GPS. I was wondering if you guys could give me any help. I'm not lookin' for any handouts, just a point in the right direction.

Go to terraserver.com you can find all the topo maps you want. If that doesn't do it for you then Google  topo maps of Minnesota you can also find lake contour maps.

If you click on this link you will get contour maps for the lake from the Minnesota DNR that you can download for free...

    http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/lakefind...apid=B0041

And here's a link to the area on TerraServern that Wellsley was talking about

    http://terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?T=2&S=15&Z=15&X=59&Y=819&W=3&qs=%7cCass+Lake%7cMN%7c

ANd if you zoom in on the lake....you will see depth contours

    http://terraserver-usa.com/image.aspx?T=2&S=12&Z=15&X=476&Y=6568&W=3&qs=%7cCass+Lake%7cMN%7c

You can also get maps from the USGS

    http://www.usgs.gov/pubprod/

In fact....I JUST NOW found out that you can download free maps from the USGS. If you click this link...and follow directions...and download the GeoPDFToolbar, you will be able to save and print them.

The state of Minn runs a "bookstore" with ALL kinds of info available...

    http://www.comm.media.state.mn.us/b...kstore.asp

And here's a pdf catalog of the maps and such they have available.

    http://www.comm.media.state.mn.us/b...202008.pdf

You may be able to find something here too...

    http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/maps/index.html

In case we're missing your exact question...and you are looking for something to download into your GPS, I do know that Cass Lake is on a couple of the Navionics chips.

    http://www.navionics.com/

I don't know of anywhere that you can get just this lake by itself for GPS download though

It's true that the name has changed on there Bob...but since I 1st registered on there back in 2006...and my username and password still work...and there appears to be plenty of activity on there...I'd say that it's still a good website...especially for Midwest folks.

The are sub-forums for many different areas of Minnesota on there if you scroll down the page

What appears to have happened is that there used to be TOTALLY separate webpage Forums for Minn, Wisc and several other states. Now they are all on one main webpage under a different name.
