Last weekend 3 of my buds and I took care of our annual Eleven Point fish, float and camp trip. The water was at 3 feet and murky on it's way down from 7 feet the week before to the summer level of 2 feet. Fishing was painfully slow, between the four of us we only caught a bluegill on Saturday. We did manage to tip the canoe once and lost my knife, chair and the tip section of my lifemember rod. The padling was easy due to the high water and we went about 9 of the 14 miles the first day. We found a little island with good holes on both sides and set up camp. We fired up a little disposable grill and cooked our steaks. We don't risk going hungry if the fish aren't biting. On Sunday I cooked up some eggs and sausage along with some left over steak and Spam. While the rest were eating breakfast I grabbed my buddy's rod and managed to get snagged on the first cast and broke off. So I tied on one of my rebel craws and got snagged again, this time I got it out. After a few cast I landed the first trout, about 12 inches. We threw him in for breakfast as well. We only managed to get 3 trout and 1 blue gill for the weekend. Coming into the final stretch just before the take out we tipped again this time I lost my multitool and nearly a friend because he caused this tip over and I was less than happy about it. I got over it and he apologized and my loving wife let me replace the knife and multitool. I am still suffering a bit about the rod though. We are doing a day float and fish tomorrow and I will miss that rod.
