i need help please helping finding out what im doing wrong

What do you need help with?  What are you trying to do that you believe is wrong?

My ex-wife always knew what I was doing wrong.  She always told me.

everytime i try to go catfishing in my pond i always use nightcrawlers but sense the water has been getting warmer all the bluegill always get it before it reaches bottom and i never really get the chance to catch a catfish

You have the answer right there. 

Catch a couple of those Bluegill, then cut them up for bait,  and don't forget their guts either = use em'. Catfish love stinky smells.

The Bluegill will not eat your offers to the Catfish then.
