Alive and still kicking in the desert. It's hard to find good fishing in the desert, a trip out of state is the way I have to do it. The in crowd at Lake Meade seams to keep tite reins on any information as to the honey holes. |

Unless you go out in a boat, fishing could be difficult at Lake Mead. Some good shore areas to try when NDOW plants trout are, Saddle Cove and Hemmenway. Some stripers have been caught after the trout plant and the shad are in the area attracting average sized stripers. Good Luck! |

Im new to this site. Nevada has some of the most spectacular fishing unmatched by many states. Through out the Colorado River , Lake Mojave is by far the best Trophy striper fishery in the US with numberous fish caught between 40 to 67 pounds. It is not unuasual to catch 20 to 30 fish in a few hours between 20 to 30 pounds. I've been here for 20 years and have seen it.
Prymaid Lake has Lahotten Cutthroat that are now getting back to an average weight of 15 to 20 pounds with many records that far surpassed 50 pounds. Please note that this is Nevadas native trout which actually survived the ice age . The fishing out here can be a experiance of a life time. Much different than in TX or on the great lakes where I grew up. |

Pyramid lake is by far the best rainbow trout in the Northern region. Ive personally seen people lunk 13lb rainbows from it, as well as get 6-8lb'ers all day. I myself have had very good luck there. A couple downsides to Pyramid lake. 1. It is on an indian reservation, so you have to pay the Paiute tribe if you want to angle there. 2. No live bait is allowed. If you can get past that, its a great place to fish. I usually have the best luck with blue fox spinners, either white/red or Neon yellow. I have only done shore fishing there, and done quite well. I live closer to lake Lahontan in Silver springs. Lots of good fish there too. Catfish, Trout, Wipers, carp. Gulp Minnows on a drop rigging do great for Carp if you wanna a fun fight. |
