A late Happy Birthday to ya. Gald to hear the day wasn't a total loss. I don't go anywhere without my camera. I have pics of poeple who went with me, and caught fish SMALLER than some of the lures I use. I couldn't fish out of a kayak, I have enough problems fishing out of my boat. too many rods and equipment. I normally have 6-7 rods on the boat. spin, casting, and fly rods.

Yeah, my wife doesn't get the going out in the cold to stand on a frozen lake or sit in a tree all day, and then not get any thing to boot. I've tried to explain it's just being out there, and watching nature, maybe see something nobody normally wouldn't....still doesn't get it...OH well, her lose, and it gets me out of the house.

Thanks Steve, I appreciate the greeting.     You said it.  It's not just the catching I go for, it's the getting right up there with Nature.  Take it from a guy born and raised on concrete in the city.( Philly Boy) The only nature I saw growing up was pigeons and sparrows.  Since I moved to NJ, I got a nice piece of ground were the nature seems endless.  I now live close to more than a dozen decent fishing areas and like you I get out well over 100+ times a year. My wife, God bless her, she puts up with my fishing trips and now in  the spring, summer and fall we both go out on kayaks to fish.  She's hooked now.  I've created a Monster!  Hell, I even got her into Nascar!!!  Thanks again.  Off to work.

I can't get my wife to just go sit in the boat, none the less fish. she was born in Philly too. She puts up with a hell of a lot with my hunting and fishing. She'll even help butcher the deer, not bad for a city girl. I was born and raised here in NJ with the Delaware right in my back yard. my parents still live there.  If the ice holds and gets a little thicker, we're going ice fishing next weekend. I can't wait.

I love my drag racing, and Nascar too, but there's nothing like the smell and noise of nitro, gotta have my drag racing.

I was out on Tuesday, and it's officially winter for me now.  The lake I go to alot (Greenwich ) was totally covered with ice. I walked around the entire lake and  I was only able to fish one little spot at the entrance in the ditches as their called, were there was a break in the ice.  I was able to pull two small crappie out of the water on a yellow swirly tail jig, so it felt like it wasn't totally a wash. I may give the water one more chance on Thursday when I try Mantua Creek.  Since it's tidal, I hope there is not alot of ice to paddle through. If that doesn't pan out, I will have to settle for waiting for opening day of trout (April 5th).

Once I get my wife in the kayak, she doesn't want to get out.

I finally got some pictures developed. These were from fall 2007. I was fishing off my kayak and hook a few bass about this size that day.

When fishing by yourself, It's hard getting good pictures. You to try to hold  every fish at arms length, but my arms are not long enough to get all of a big fish in the picture.

GOOOD MORRRRNING NEW JERSEY!!!    I got out today (Wednesday), 67 degrees, cloudy,  just a little drissle in the afternoon. Did some bank fishing. Caught two small bass, and a couple of crappie on a little yeller jig. I threw some spinners in the lake for a couple hours.  Tried differnt ones, but not a bite.  The lake was completley thawed out and there was a lot of action in the water. but no luck.  It seems the Big Bass are being rather picky, But i can wait.  I hope to get out Thursday, but we'll see. My wife might have some different plans for me.  Have a good Day all!!

GOOOOD MORRRNING New JERSEY!!!

I got out Friday on the kayak.  Sunny and not much wind.  Took a stick bait to em.  It was the battle of the BASS and the CRAPPIE and the BASS won 8 to 5. Caught two nice size Bass( biggest of the new year so far) and the rest were small but still fun.  The little Bass and all the Crappie took the Rapala right of the top off the water after a little twitching.  It was fun watching them leap after it.  You'd a thought it was spring the way they were hitting the top water.  It's gonna get cold for a few days so back to chores.

WOW, sounds like u had a great day!! any size to the crappies???  love crappies, good eatin' fish. they were hitting top water this early in the year? time to get the fly rod out. Crappie and bass on the fly is a blast!

Might have to make a trip down south next weekend, now that deer season is done this weekend.

I got one nice size one, the rest were future nice ones.  I just got a fly rod for my B Day.  I can't wait to learn how to use it.  Yeah, I was surprised they were coming to the top so much. I never ate one, but I heard the were very good.  I'm a little afraid of eating them out of the waters were I fish.  Do You think there are areas they should be avoided??  These waters are next to a few farms, a major highway and fed by the Delaware River.  I think I found a spot holding a bunch of them in a small area.  It was in a small ditch (or canal ) of the main ditch that ended at a little cove next to a farm field. Even a jon boat would have a little trouble getting into this area because of downed trees by area beavers. My kayak slipped right in there without being noticed, hence the name, "Stealthfisher" .

yeah, that thing is a joke, kinda. I get where they're comming from. I"ve been running a boat since I was a kid, my dad too. run a boat down the shore, and offshore for over 10 years, NOW I have to go get some kinda training?? they give you and opt out test, for us old timers, but you can only take it once, and have to pass. I still haven't gotten mine.

I wouldn't be afraid to eat those fish. I mean, if the water was bad, the fish wouldn't survive, right? there are good eatin'!! the filet should be nice and white.

Good luck on your test.

I had to work that night so I just stayed up.  Had to be at the Class at 7:30 am.  I was pretty tired.  A charter boat captain gives the class. It wasn't that bad, just a long day ( 7 and 1/2 hours ).    Passed with flying colors. I don't think they fail any body.  Now I'm legal!  And they tell me since I fish Non-tidal water the state want $16 more dollars when I go to register and show the new certificate.   Oh well. It's a cost  I'll get my money's worth out of at least.
