Hi New Jersey.   Trout season opens April 5th at 8:00am.  Who's headin' out for da TROUT??   I had a good time last year with a friend and his dad. We had to throw back a bunch because we all caught our limit pretty fast.  A great day on the water. It was nice to see my friend fishing and joking around with his dad.  I fished with my dad a little when I was younger, but with his health problems later in life, things we take for granted sometimes were hard for him to do. There are alot of things I would do today with my father if only I had the chance. One of the most important things my Dad ever told me was that I should enjoy life by getting out and doing as much as I can, While I can, because as you get older your health may not offer you the ability  to do the things you want to do. I try to live my life with that advise every day. I have two daughters. My older one will come fishing sometimes, but, she a teen now and that means she doesn't always want me by her side all the time. My youngest LOVES to fish and I try to spend as much time with her and her sister. HECK, I even get my wife out on alot of occasions! She has been diagnosed and treated for Breast Cancer and appreciates how precious the time we have on this earth.  We sometimes take for granted the short time we have on this earth with our fathers, mothers, children and friends.   Wow, Sorry,  this wasn't supposed to be a  depressin and boring lecture.  It just ended up someone speaking from the heart.

Sorry, I don't do trout. that's bait as far as I'm concerned. lol don't care for the taste and too many bones. Opening day of trout is prime time for spawning pike and muskies.

I don't know of too many places down here in southern part of the state for Pike and Muskies. ( I'm sure there are some though )  I just started trout fishing a couple years ago.  This last fall and winter stocking was cool because they put in alot of bigger fish. Most were 16in. to 20 in. and some were in the mid 20's.  The spring stock usually aren't  as big. I still do alot of Bass fishin mostly. This year I'm gonna see if I can hook a Carp or two and let them take me and my kayak for a ride.  Catts are allways welcome too!   There is a lake here that some say has Bowfin. Did you ever hook one of those??   I got one once.  Didn't know what it was at first.

Never caught a Bowfin. seen them in a tank and books. the lake just up the road from me is supposed to have them in it. we get some big cats once in a while, my son goes to the canal or river in the summer at nite. mostly small ones, this one is from Spruce Run at nite, we were fishing Hybird Stripers. 30ins 8.5lbs. carp and eels don't even make it in my boat. that would be a fun ride, a big carp in a kayak. my dad has a place in NY, private lake, loaded with bass, big bass. we've caught them over 7 lbs.

Nice catch,  Yeah, I used to do a few all night trips every year on my nephews boat in the different creeks around here like Big Timber, Lil Timber, Rancocas, Raccoon, etc. and the Delaware river. Nothing wrong with fishin with Dad, Pullin in 7lber,   NICE.
