Went fishing Sat. (5-10) up in Oxford. my buddy and I had a good day. great weather for fishing all day. got 6 Perch in the boat, lost a couple and left some small ones go. Biggest thrill was having 3 BIG Muskies follow one of my homemade lures to the boat. muskies were about 45-50 ins. they don't seem to be real agressive yet. they just swam under it up to the boat. water might be just a tic cold, or they're still recouping from spawning. still just a thrill to have just ONE go after one of my lures.

I went on a Black Drum trip on Friday.  A little rainy but no wind.  We started catching a bunch of Dog sharks.  But after about an hour I hooked the first Drum.  About 60+ lbs.  After that we all started hauling them in. They put up a good fight.  We had a ball. I caught 2 more, One 60+ and one 70lb.  The biggest was taken in buy a friend's dad, between 75 and 80 lbs.  I can't wait to get back on the bay and fight one of these fish again.

Hey New Jersians!!!  The wife and I hit Greenwich Lake in Gibbstown to do a little bank fishing to pass the time.  A beautiful sunny day, blue skies. The wife started us off casting ( or should I say just dropping her lure next to a tree) and hooked a 2 1/2 lber.   Then I evened the score and pulled in a Bass.  She capped the day off though with the final and winning fish to take the lead.  Wife 2    Husband 1.

number two       TO             one is the lonliest number                  Blue Skies

I got a on Monday.Sunny, 83 degrees, No wind. A 30 sunblock day. Still hung over from the Dover race.  Took the wife, man she's a trooper!  We hit the ditches throwing U-Tail worms. The Bass were taking them off the surface. I hit three Bass and she hooked 1. Her's was nicer though.  I tried something new to me called a "Baby Beav". It has a Beaver-like tail and two feet.  It is designed with a ridge down the middle so when you hook it weedless, the hook sits nicely in the groove not exposing the hook point.  I couldn't get anything to bite it but it definitley deserves another shot at the Bass. Wednesday and Thursday look rainy ( of course, my days off) But I'm going to try to get out.

Have you ever fished for Carp??  I went out today looking to Hook some Carp.  Oh yeah and some LM Bass. A friend made me some cornmeal mixture.  I tried for a while but with no luck on the Carp front.  I did catch about 8 to 10 Bass, the largest were 2+ lbs. So it was a good day. But I was a little disappointed that I couldn't get that Carp Ride on my kayak. Tommorrow I'm going to give it another go.

carp have a sweet tooth. they like things that smell fruity. NJ fish and game did at one time have a section on their web site about how to fish for them. most serious carp fishermen use a set up called a Bollie, or something like that. it's a set of three balls one smaller than the next, with some closely guarded secrets of what exactly they use. just think of it like a mellonball type thing.

Got out today. Drug the wife with me as well.   80's Sunny, No wind.  A small neighborhood lake.  Had a lot of top water hits on a Red and Black U-Tail worm.  I was only able to get 4 LM Bass to the boat.  The fish seemed to be suspended in the grass.  The poor little lady is getting discouraged.

Went out Friday nite for Wipers. Took one of the guys I work with. he caught his first Wiper. A Very nice 6 1/4 lb'er, he also got a 3 lb'er. It came at a price, killed one of his reels. burned the drag up. Wiper are tough on equipment. Had some storms in the area we had to watch, and could fish where we wanted to till late.

Hey New Jersey!!

I got out on Sunday 8-3 on a lake behind a friends house.  He's been bragging about how great the fishin is there so I finally took him up on the invite.  Just a small  lake with alot of the usual summer algae and grass all over the top. 80 and sunny (forgot the lotion as usual) with a little wind.  With a little difficulty, I dropped my kayak in and started with some top water worm. The third cast I set hook on a nice healthy 2+ lber.   Hmm!! Maybe this could be the real deal!

For the next hour I dragged different things accross the top of the algae ( mostly Baby Brush Hogs) and got a lot of stikes, but with all that bloom on top only boated 5 Bass (  Only!! Ha HA).  I made my way to the back of the lake to an area where I had to dig through 4 inches of water before finally floating again. My friend has never been able to get back this far because of how shallow it is. Thank God for a kayak.  Some Pads brought in 2 more very aggresive top water explosions. Then near a small water fall I found an area with a drop off to deeper, cooler water.  Threw a top water again and had three different fish strike at the same retrieve. WoW!  I stayed in that general area for about an hour and pulled in one after another.  My thumb was like sand paper!  I hooked at least three or more 3+ lbers. Some on top, some letting it sink.  It was the most fun I ever had Bass fishing.  By the time I was done, I brought in a new personal best of 27, that's 27 Bass!!!  Heck, one nice size one I caught twice, ( I guess it counted as two). I knew for sure beacuse he had this nasty cut on his back, probably from a wading bird.  Who knows how many I could have caught if I stayed, but I felt guilty after a while and thought I should give these fish a break considering they gave me the best fishing day of my life.

The capper for the day was going into my buddies house and recounting the days experience over a couple beers and him showing me some of the most Impressive Steelhead, Pike, Walleye, Large and Small mouth Bass, Deer, Bear and Moutain Lion Mounts you could ever see!!  His Game Room was truly amazing.  I can't wait to return and give it a try again.

sounds like a good day. never go wrong with a brush hog or lizard over surface junk, weeds and the like. 27 is a very good day, but you have a long way to go to beat my dad. His record is 88 bass in one day, but he cheats. He's got the fish trained!!

I went to a small lake that  is in East Greenwich  New Jersey. I Launched my kayak on a day that was Sunny, Beautiful early morning breeze, about 75 degrees.     I tried a new Swim Bait on Monday.    Kamakazee Bait Company Baby Bass                   I got a little nervous using this new       Kamakazee Bait Company            Swim Bait because I use an ultra lite Pfleuger 4 1/2 or 5 foot graphite rod. The 5.5" lure is Larger and Heavier than the usual lures I use.    I worked this bait On the top, an inch or two below the surface, and also let it sink and bounced it off the bottom as I retrieved it back. I caught Five fish on the   Kamakazee Bait Company           in three hours,  using all these retrieves and interestingly enough, Four of the Five were large. ( A 20" ,two 18", a 17", and a future big guy) They should call this one the "Lunker Seeker"!   The sad part is that being so soft, the Swim Bait is getting really torn up. I had to use a smaller hook because I was having trouble keeping the one that came with it in place.  I will try it one more time and try to be careful not to totally destroy it.  I stopped using it after the Fifth fish .   I definitely will give Swim baits a try from now on.  They are certainly a good addition to my Bass fishing arsenal!  Here are some Pictures.
