Ok, so it wasn't really long enough to be considered an official trip but I did get out on the shores of a local lake Sunday morning for about an hour. Was hoping to hook up with a holdover fall stocker or three but to no avail, I only hauled water. Saw one other angler on the banks as well who wasn't getting any either. I know they're left in there though.

Cold front didn't help matters. Water was fairly cold but the air was colder at 38°. Spring stocking starts March 23rd so only a few more days left to fish this spot until they close it during the stock.

Took the opportunity Saturday to get the boat ready for the season but couldn't finish because I need some new oil plug o-rings for the lower unit. Guess it will be another week or so before she gets out of the garage.

Anyone else having any early season luck?

Boy I miss the North Jersey waters . Not that the fishing is bad here in the Southern part of the state, but I miss those Pike and fishing for trout in streams. I think I feel a road trip coming in my future.

Spruce Run is great this time of year. Crappies, bass, pike, Hybird stripers, smallies. You never know what's on the other end of the line. you can have all the trout you want, I haven't fished trout since I was a kid. Don't eat it, don't care for the taste. I tease my buddy, who's big into trout fishing, trout is just bait.

waters still down about 2-3 feet. dad and I went Wens. had a great day with the crappies. we got 40!! kept our limit of 20. I caught the 2 biggest. 2.3 and 2.2 lbs, and a pair of 1.7 lbs. had 2 hits on some monster shiners we caught ice fishing, felt like good fish, but lost both of them.
