I normaly shore fish lake Erie in Buffalo and I have for many years, and just in 3 years the county took away my favorite fishing spots. Mainly along route 5 (small boat harbor if you want to pin point it) Great spot its very rocky and weedy and gets deep in a hurry and I possibly caught basicly everything that that lives in the lake just in this spot. Well a few days ago me and my buddy went to go fishing here to our supprise we seen no trespassing sighns and slip holders only sighns. Well we said screw it and went in any way coinsidering we never bother anyone nor do we see anyone and we are way out the for that the boaters won't complain about our lines blocking their passage.Well after fishing for about an hour and catching about a half a dozen decent size Rockies some yo yo pulled up in a taurus telling us that we are on private property. Me in complete disbelife told the guy to go away cause we thought he wanted our spot. Well after argueing with barney fief for an hour a cop shows up. The cop tells the gaurd to leave us be and we weren't doing no harm and that he also fished the same area as a kid himself. Oh boy this is were it gets fun a sherriff rolls up and listens to a 3 way arguement for about 2 minutes. Well it turns out that the whole stretch of where I normally fish has been put up for water front development, but I wouldn't listen as this spot is a chunk of my life. Needless to say I wound up with a tresspassing charge and the judge was as suprised as I was when he heard that area was closed to fishing. Although I'm not as mad about the charge as I am about loseing my favorate fishing spot. I guess there are ppl fighting it but there is no way we could get it reopened now that the county is bankrupt. I just hope that one day it will be reopened so I can go back and I can stop saying no tressbassing. Until then its back to word of mouth for good fishing spots.
