Wellsley did you see where they just got a 40" tiger out of lake durant

No Channelcat I didn't. Just got back from vacation. I haven't been in touch with things. Time to get back to normal. I threw one back that was 38". My first trip to Durant this year is in about a month.

Hi all, rain today.
I had hoped to take a day off this week and hook up with Stonecrusher, but thats not going to be in the cards. I've got meetings at work most of the week and friday I've got to get the camper and boat trailer inspected. Some day I hope to be retired (like some people I know) and won't have these committments.

Frank you would be hitting me at the tough part of the season, post-spawn. Bites are tough on the bigger carp, though the males seem to be willing enough and quite worth the wait. Took only two yesterday (the other three got me into a new snag we didn't have before April), a 19 1/2 and a 22 1/2, there were only four banked all day, but the little kitties are getting pretty fond of spicy corn, heck spicy anything. Got one yesterday one a piece of Slim Jim, which I gave up on after my first eel in 5 years. Only female I saw yesterday looked like she hadn't eaten in months she was so hollow looking. I've been going down for all day sessions (dawn to dusk), so if you wanted to hook up later in the day it wouldn't matter. If you time it right, you could get there at prime time, for me it's been peak high tide outgoing to low. I can give you a link to check a graph on all that if you want to optimize your timing. You have a lot more of a drive to get there than I do. Pic of the 22 1/2 will get added to my carp album after I resize it.
There is no greater fisherman than "the guy here yesterday".

I am not sure of whom you are referring Frank; but even when your retired you still have all those little commitments. Retirees must get their boat boat trailer & camper inspected too. They just have more time and a great flexible schedule to do it between fishing trips.

Hi guys, this is the tide link I have stonecrusher http://xtide.ldeo.columbia.edu:8080...ns/10.html
I was referring to ALL you retired folk. And the big commitment is work. Walt.
I'll be busy moving my daughter the next few days. She graduated from Syracuse University and is moving to NYC. Hopefully after I get her all moved I can turn my attention to fishing the rest of the summer.
And Pete I hope not. Any time I take time off I've got a ton of stuff that has to get done when I get back.

Yes Turnip I am kind of busy since I retired 18 months ago.Yes I find myself busy washing my boat a lot more now.Yep I had to wash it today again after one of those Salmon splashed blood everywhere. Then I had to come back to camp and fillet 3 nice fat Salmon. Tomorrow I need to find some time to tie up some new leaders because I noticed my supply was getting low today. I think it was that same Salmon that made a mess in my boat that also knotted up my leader today. I dislike all that extra work one fish can cause me.

It is also amazing how some of those still working type people think we retirees have free time to help them out. The other week a friend talked me into using my boat to fish with him in a fishing derby. And now this weekend he wants me to help him cook at a bar-b-que and birthday party for his wife. I have a couple of other friends that want me to take them out fishing too. Now don't they all think I have other things to do?

Busy busy ... busy as a bee is a retiree.

Oh yeah then I have a daughter that is getting married in October. She thinks I can take time to go get fitted for a tux and do dinners and rehersals and all that kind of stuff.

I do dislike those "Honey Do Lists" ... what is with them?

Morning guys. I know what you mean about that retired life. Going on my 3rd month now. Don't know where the day goes. Of course I don't start my day as early usually, since I threw the alarm clock out the window. But I stay up alittle later also. We are still doing pretty well with the crappie and bluegills here. But it is suppose to get real hot over the next 10 days or so.

FFFisch! Just your 3rd month? Oh your just a newbie and may have some learning curves yet to be worked on. The spring and summer days do seem to past quicker than the cold winter ones. Now I do hope you have a good wristwatch to keep track of some time as it is nice to know if its time for dinner. Plus a watch with a calendar in it is very important as once in awhile you do need to know what day it is like if your writing a check or your wondering if the bank is open. You also shouldn't throw out every alarm clock because once in awhile you may want to get up early to go fishing, especially if your going fishing with one of your working stiff friends on a weekend as you want to go early and return early before all those weekend recreational boaters get on the lake. You will need that alarm clock when you really become use to not having to wake up on any schedule.

Yesterday one of my camp neighbors departed at 5:00 am to go fishing with his son whom had the day off from work. I told him I would probably see them out on the lake some time later in the day. Yes I ran down the lake later in the morning (much later) and they told me they were hitting a few in one area. So at 11:00 or shortly after, I dropped my first rigger down to the suggested level. It was slow fishing for the first two hours with only one release and no taker. But then things changed staring with a nice double and two beautiful Salmon footballs. Shortly later we had 3 nice dinner plate size Salmon in the well and it was now 2:00, so my wife and I headed back to the boat launch. After-all I still need some time to fillet fish before dinner time and I hate being rushed now that I am retired.

Oh yes I also had to make a telephone call to Frabill before they closed so that I could get a replacement lock button for my telscoping net. I am not sure how but the spring release button on my conservation net broke and I am lucky I noticed if before trying to net that first Salmon or I may have lost the net to the lake bottom. The nice lady at Frabill returned my telephone call this morning and she is mailing me replacement parts free of charge. Now that is customer service. Now isn't that nice to know... an American company making items for the fishermen in the USA and they have great friendly customer service. Thank you Frabill.

Congrats fishing eagle on the daughter getting married. Sorry that you'll be at the wedding instead of fishing. They'll probably be biting quiet well that day. LOL
Your friends that ask you to help them feel sorry for you and know how bored you must be getting being retired. Glad to hear frabill treated you right.
