I'm having a heck of a time catching fish this year, I blame it on the summer we're having here in NY. Worst in decades. Water temp is low, constant rain and storms....am i just complaining or has anyone else noticed a significant drop off in catches this year?

No complaints here, I am having a fairly good catch this season. Actually the cooler water temps earlier this year has been good for catching Salmon and Trout. I will agree that my fishing time has been diminished due to my shorter time on the water because of the rain storms. It is hard to fish in thunder storms as I don't want to be the next lighting rod on the lake. "Knock on wood" here but I have not been skunked as yet this season and that is good news so I have to say the fishing has been fair to great here in northern NY and the Adirondacks.

I have to side with Disgruntled here, this has been my poorest season yet. I have caught pumpkinseeds and bluegill most no bigger than the lure/bait they were caught with, several chain pickerel which are all over like horse manure around here, and one bullhead. Oh and I can't forget the five fish I think were carp and three four-inch crappie.

The bass have been so finicky lately I could swear that one gave me the finger as it swam away.

I can't complain I've caught my personal best smallmouth. My very first Landlock salmon. The bass fishing seems to be up. I've caught a ton of bass, the musky has been fair. I'll let you know on the pike fishing after next week. The only thing that has been slow this year has been perch. The fish are there you just have to find them. Tactics that worked in the past might not work under these weather conditions. Re-invent the wheel. Try differant places and remember its fishing not catching. Go out and have some fun.

Terrible season...I Guess it all depends on the waters you fish...Personally, I fish Mostly small lakes & ponds and I happen to keep a Fishing Journal...Last year at this time I had caught over 150 Keepers...This Year only 46!!!!!  I'm not fishing any less, they just don't seam to be biting...I believe that that constant rain has been feeding them a steady diet of wash in food, so they simply aren't as hungry as often....Also, the Barametric Pressure has been on the FALL much more often than on the RISE and I do believe that effects their eating habits a lot.

Well the Northern Pike were hitting pretty good on the deep drop offs near the weed edges in 15'+ of water. I set up in 40' of water and casted at the weed edge which was in 15'. The only thing they we're real big. All of them went under 30" but still put up a good fight.
