Hello all outdoorspeople in North Carolina, my name is David Engle.  I live in Kentucky and I am planning a trip to Lake Fontana in 3 weeks.  I have been all over the internet trying to get some info about the lake and some fishing reports.  I have had zero luck in doing so, I have posted in other forums where I thought I would get some replies but no such luck.  I dont know if its because of where I am from of what but everyone plays shut mouth or really doesent know anything about this lake.  So if there are any real fisherman out there that wouldn't mind helping out a fellow angler please respond.  Any info at all will be greatly appreciated.

Keep those line wet.     Thank you David Engle

to catch a cat by hand takes patience perserverance and above all fearlessness. it is the hardest type of fishing cause you never know who is pulling whom up.

Hey i am new to the area that Fontana is in. I have heard everyone talk about it. Sounds like it is a big lake, so a boat will be needed most likely. If you go hit it up let me know and I will join you for the trip. I believe it is by Bryson City, NC. I haven't been there yet so I hope there is spots to bank fish, because I do not have a boat. I will try to find more info for you and update you asap as it comes in! Like mooseman said I have heard that people love to use house/pontoon boats on it!

Here's a link to a page about Bryson City. Haven't read it just yet but check it out!

Oh yeah if you have never been to the Smokey's before you are in for a big surprise. I come from the Northwest and the logging industry is huge out there. The mountains are all clear cut for miles, and miles. Here there are none! It is beautiful and you will be hard pressed to leave these beautiful mountains! I am glad I moved here. I guess there is many streams you can go hit for good trout fishing to. Let me know if the info helped!
