    if fishing for cats , i use live bait,blue gills,shinners,skipjack, chubs,small carp.
u can use store bought shrimp, kroger, walmart,k-mart.stink baits ,nightcrawers.
chicken liver, beef liver= hard to keep on hook
unless u put it in a old panty hose and put hook thru hose, use sewing thread to tie it up with.

I am planning on going to the Ohio River Next weekend for a few days of fishing. I was wondering of some good spots..
I was planning on going around the U.S. Bank Arena area... I was up at the U.S. Bank arena today and was thinking about how i should of brought my poles because i never have fished in the River there before. I have heard of there being some HUGE cats in there.. What would the best bait be? What type of rig should i use?? My poles i have are mainly 6 foot spinning rods but the test on them is pretty good amount.

Hey hotshotpin21, scroll up to the catfish section here on the bulletin board and you will find all kinds of recipe's for home made catfish baits that you can make and experiment with. I have had my best luck with live leeches and also with chicken liver inside a small pouch made of pantyhose. You can take a 2 inch square piece of pantyhose and put your chicken liver inside it, then fold the corners in together and tie them together to make the pouch, then run your hook through the pantyhose and your ready to catch some nice big fat catfish...
