    Hi all needs tips on jug fishing Kaw Lake good areas to catch good eating size blues or channels thanks in advance

    I'm not sure about Kaw but I have found that the best eating are about 1 1/2-5 pounds.  Some of the bigger ones are fun to catch but not so much to eat.

    That's what I would like to catch I don't yet have a map of Kaw.I,m looking for flats located near deep water.

    we usually catch quite a few on juglines. do any of you fish for the blues with rod and reel. we have caught very few on rod and reel. i have not tried drifting yet.

    just 9 more days until i head up to kaw. are any of you catching any sandbass? is it easy to get shad this year or do i need to bring some with me?

    I've never fished Kaw Lake, usually at Ft. Gibson, Tenkiller, Hudson, or Kerr. My wife and I drift fish for cats all the time.Most of the time we do pretty good. Seems like drift fishing is good for 10# and under - jug lines get the bigger ones.

     

    Shad population seems to vary from lake to lake. May not be a bad idea to take a few with you from home.

    there were no shad.  we could not even get any below the dam.  at the dam i did get a couple of buffalo and with them we caught a nice flathead and 2 large blues.  i met a rancher and he let us catch some perch for fishing in the river one night.  we went on his property down to the salt fork and caught 3 flatheads on rod and reel.
