I just read of the Grand Opening Of Dicks Sporting Goods in the Sun. Oregonian. I had no idea it is such a large store, with something for everyone!

The store is open now & the Grand opening is Sat. march 29th. I will be going to check it out soon!

They wouldn't let us say when we were going to open the doos, but you can go in now.  It's a little different than all the others in the area.  The "Lodge" isn't huge, but seems to be adequate for most fisher persons, campers, and hunters.  I'm pretty amazed at some of the stuff.  Golf section is pretty big, with swing analyzer and course simulater, club fitting, etc.  Bicycle and Team Spors sections are also pretty big.  Clothing alone is 60000 sq ft.  All the locals are there, Nike, Adidas, Under Armor, North Face, and Columbia all have their own sections.  Should be some pretty good deals G Opening.  I'm only there a couple days a week and that's fine with me cause it doesn't get in the way of fishing.  This week only Fri AM.

I guess most ogre's are anti social :-)  At least it's on the outside of the Mall.  2 doors out, 1 in.  There are a lot of people, got to give you that, and a lot of traffic certain times of the day.  Try it around 10:00, but don't leave 'til 2:00 and the traffic won't be too bad.  It's worth seeing at least once.

Forgive my ignorance, but I'd never heard of Dick's Sporting Goods until I saw the big construction signs at the mall.  So what's it like?  Is it like a Cabela's - half store, half sporting goods amusement park?  Or is it like a Joe's? Or...?

Washington Square is the first store west of Denver with 450 more coming to the west in the next five years.  It is their largest, and from what I've heard, the nicest.  Not as much outdoor stuff as Sportsmans, but maybe more than Joes.  Nike, Adidas, Under Armor, North Face, and Columbia all have a very large presence.  Golf section is very big with swing analyzer and course simulator.  Bike section is pretty large as well.  Team Sports is huge with baseball a major part of that right now.  Very large shoe section downstairs and rugged footware upstairs.  100 and some models of boats (kayaks, canoes, etc.) displayed upstairs.  Lot of camping, backpacking, fishing, hunting, upstairs.  Shooting hall for bows.  Nice selection of long guns, no hand guns.  Archery stuff, etc.

Sorry ogre, I don't think you'll find your vests there.  You can go on-line and see most of what's there.
