I am new to the board. I have been stationed here at Shaw since 94. I love to fish anything that will snatch a hook will work for me. I mostly fish on lake wateree and lake marion. I enjoy fishing for cats. I have 2 boats both motors are busted. Looking into getting 'em back running soon i hope driving me crazy bank fishing.

Summerville is fairly close to Santee Lakes so you have plenty places to fish.

try this link for fishing reports:

    http://www.dnr.sc.gov/news/freshwater.html

heres what they had to say about your area of fishing January 28th:

    Lake Wateree:

    • Largemouth Bass: Fair, try using, pig and jig. Fish off deeper piers.
    • Striped Bass: Fair, using live shad with down-rods in 20 to 25 feet of water.
    • White Bass: Slow: Try shad-like baits off points.
    • Crappie: Good, try minnows Wow grubs and slider worms tight lining in 12 to 15 feet of water mostly on the ledges. Smaller crappie have moved into shallow water, 3 to 5 feet around piers and docks.
    • Catfish: Good, using live shad, small pieces of shrimp and cut bait close to bottom in 10 to 20 feet of water and deeper down the lake.
    • Bream: Slow, try using worms.

I have a Paramedic friend whos dying to fish Wateree with me and we hope to go in a few weeks. He has never been catfishing before so it should be a treat for him.
