Hi. I recently tried to fish in the Brazos. It was the first time i'd fished in a river before and it didn't go well. I broke a lot of line and lost a lot of terminal tackle. Should I use heavier gear for the river? I was using 12lb line but I didn't have heavy enough weights. Any suggestions?

I use 15- 20 lb test.   If your fishing the bank you might go higher.  If fishing with a boat you would be safe with 15-17lb P line..  The boat can drive you to your lure with the bank offers swimming with the snakes.

med action or heavy rod.   dependant on if your hit brush for bass.  Medium,  or hunting the cats Heavy.    Wt I always base that off the flow.   a medium bullet is good for worms.   Usually the Brazos doesnt get to frisky in the summer.  I tie a knot that will never break.   The string will always go first.

I like Pline because it is nearly totally invisible yet is it easy casting and I think it can way out do the 15 lbs it says on the box.   green or brown line works great.
