I am about to be getting my first little boat. I have always been bank fishing for catfish. But now I am getting a boat and would like to learn how to fish for bass and crappie. The three lakes that I like to fish. Are Decker lake, Granger Lake, and Lake Georgetown. If anyone has any tips or spots that could help me out that would be awesome. |

I don't know anything about those lakes, so the only advice I can give you is to get some good quality maps and find drop offs, and feeder creeks and such...
but...
before launching your boat, check all you safety equipment, PDFs, Fire extinguisher, signal device, lights, etc.
Don't forget to check you trailer...
spare, lubed hubs, boat tie downs, wench rope/strap, safety chains.
Congrats and Good Luck with your new boat, be safe, but most important...
Have Fun. |

I am not familliar with those lakes, but I know how you feel I too am a new boat owner. I did all my fishing from the bank, but did not limit myself to just catfishsh. When fishing for bass you have to look for cover such as logs weed beds coves along deep drop offs and bait fish. I have discovred that trolling along the damn of lake Murval here localy can produce 6+ lb bass on a 1.00 white spinner bait from walmart. So look at your lake and try different areas. like Brujo said check all rules and regs for your area stay safe and have fun. remember "a bad day fishing beats a good day at work any day of the week" |
