Might try Poutney river flows into barge canal/lower champlain in White Hall (NY) the river has everything. Go past navy museum you'll see gated lock bridges go past yatch club take first left then left b4 hill where u c tressel bring you to small bridge which is Siodi,Vermont. you can launch boat from there. I've caught bass. walleye, cats, long nose gar, pike. There is swamp there (turn left across bridge in Siodi,Vt.) at night the gar gather there. Sheephead too, thou a junk fish they fight hard. The river is like coffee color and a mile right after bridge it's a good trout stream. Alot of bobcat and rattle snakes on Vermont side of river. Leopard frogs r one of the most abundant forages. |

Yup! Have fished there scene I was 8 years old. So lets see thats 40 years now. It's in West Haven, VT on Galick rd the swamp is Wards Marsh. I knew the Galick brothers that lived in the farm house at the end. Got the biggest catfish that I have cought so far 25 lbs. and a Bowfin that was 14 lbs. a sheephead (fresh water Drum) 11lbs....There is some great fishing there! |

Are there any reports on the launches on lake Champlain. I heard some of the docks are in and the water is a foot below flood stage. |

I fish Champlain even tho last spring was a bust with all the flooding and High High water. I target Walleye, Landlock Salmon, Lake trout and Bown Trout usually while also taking time to fish for Bass, Perch and Northern Pike. There are many ways to enjoy the great fisheries of Lake Champlain. I have even caught Gar and other not so known species of fish on the lake. I once had a Sturgeon on the line but he easily won the battle. I just wanted a quick photo but no way it was happening... A big ole Channel Cat or Sheephead will also give you a battle at times too. |

There are a number of Frostbite fishermen still fishing the lake for Salmon, Lakers and steelhead as we speak. It takes a true sportsman to be out there in this cold & wind to still be fishing. Plus I know a couple that are fishing from a fully open boat with no kind of cover. Brrrrrrrrrrrrr! |
