Hey all.....just had an idea......i'm not sure exactly how widespread the northern snakhead is throughout virginia.........but whay if we wll had a snakehead tournament?? we wouldn't have to get together, just fish for them in you area if they are there......or if not go find them.........weigh it, measure it, and take a picture........this would not be a catch and release tournament..... the vdgif wants them removed from our waters........and from what i'm told they are pretty tasty anyway.......let me know what you think....talk to you later

I read/saw on the VGDIF website was they decided not to eradicate them b/c they were too prolific. They just want to try to turn them into a "gamefish" in the northern waters. I haven't seen any around here but after watching some youtube videos of them feeding I'm all for getting rid of them. They waste what they kill and very rarely finish off a half eaten fish. There's some videos of one vs a bass and it just rips the bass in half and leaves it alive floating unable to swim. That's wasteful IMHo. I guess they're good eating.
Tight lines and Best fishes! |

Hi everyone, I'm a new life member since 05/08 and lived in virginia since 04. I live on the eastern shore and do alot of fresh water fishing. The problem is not many fresh water spots here on the shore. Sure there are alot of ponds around here but very hard to get in because of the land owners dont want anyone on them, past experiences of fishermen. Nothing we can do about that. I'm just looking for go places on the shore to fish out of my canoe fresh water perferably. I do fish salt water, but I love fresh water. Nothing like a big bass on ultra light gear. I know of about 5 ponds to fish on right now but would like more of an option. I was thinking about putting an ad in the local paper what kind of advice can I get. That and finding the land owner is like finding a needle in a hay stack.................lmao thanks for the advice and good fishing to you all................ Chuck PS.... add me to the list please, thanks |

Hey wormdrowner, Isee that you fish lake moomaw. If you can I need some info on the spring bite of yellow perch you have there. Any thing would be great. Maybe we can get together and catch a mess Thanks Mike |

Greetings & Salutations Fellow Virginians from just another F N G (Fishing club New Guy). . . I recently purchased some property on John's Creek in Craig County just North of Blacksburg/VaTech near the WV border. It's strictly catch & release - stocked twice a year with rainbows, browns & brooks with enforced private access. I've already discovered a couple of "honey holes" with some really, really nice rainbows . . . I've always wanted to give fly fishing a try & now I have no excuse to see whether or not "an ol' dog can learn a new trick?". . . Tejano - that's Tay-hah'-no - just in case you don't savvy Tex-Mex . . . Yeah, I'm a dis-placed native Texican! |
