I just had to share my sad story. Was out on the Snake a week from last friday. Real windy day, spent a great deal of the day up the Palouse. I had my brother-in-law over from Longview and wanted to show him a good time. We caught some real small smallies, I hooked a 15" walleye and he caught his first catfish, about a 18". The wind finally died down around 5pm and I headed to my favorite cove down river on the snake from Lions Ferry Marina and we caught a bunch of smallies, probably about 10 each, all around 1lb or so. He was thrilled, the biggest he'd ever caught. At 7pm I decided to head back to the marina, we were going to go to Crowe Butte the next day. No sooner did I get into the main channel and pointed in the right direction, and my busted down on me. I was about 2 miles from the marina, not another boat around and nothing but my electric trolling motor to get me there. Took me 2+ hours to get to the marina and all the battery I had left.
I found out today that entire outdrive needs to be replaced. They quoted me $3200.00, but I found one online for $1200.00. If all goes well, I should be up and running in about 3 weeks.
In the mean time it's back to fishing from the bank!
