Has anyone fished Rufus Woods? I am looking at heading to the lake after the new year with the family. Any advise on baits, lures or where to fish. I might be taking my boat if it is working correctly. Jeremy

I saw in the Spokesman-Review Friday sports a couple weeks ago a few blurbs about Rufus. He said, for what it's worth, that the fishing was good. Check on-line on their web-site and look in the archives for the "Hunting and fishing" columns from the past couple of weeks.
You might get some help... |

Salmonking, When you get to Rufus, don't forget about the Walleyes that stack up there this time of the year. Also be aware that the WDFW is handing out tickets left and right up there. The fishing has been good for those Triploids. 10lb + fish are being caught . Good luck and let us know how you do.................. .jpg)

Yellowbear, I'll post some pics if my friends and I come up with anything. Thanks for the heads up on the WDFG. The fish&Hunting news also mentioned about that, watching for over limit catches. They have some strick rules for that lake. I hit a snag today though. I went to check on my boat and noticed a problem. One of my tires on the trailer had blown. I can only guess that with the freeze and wear of the tire lead to this. Now I am playing hardball trying to find the right size tire. Jeremy a.k.a. Cletus

Yellowbear, Do you have any tips for them Eyes? It has been too long since fishing for them. Any pointers/tips would be greatly appreciated. We are going to try to make it a two-fer trip while we are there. After limiting out on trout we are going after some Eyes. Also, weather permitting we might continue the trip over Moses Lake and Pot Holes. Jeremy a.k.a. Cletus

Fish for the eyes below the Island. Jigs and worms or Bladebaits should do the trick. If you get over to Moses or Potholes give me a call at 509-760-5806 and maybe we can meet up for a coffee or something........ .jpg)

Where about is the Island? We're launching out of Bridgeport park. The plan is to drift while casting lures to the shore. Not too sure how long we'l do that. Jeremy a.k.a. Cletus

The Island is up river from Bridgeport quite a few miles. Look for little back waters and points. There should be some good spots down were you will be fishing. I spend most of my time around Seatons Grove up by Elmer City. Thats were the net pens are. YellowBear

Well, after driving through rain, sleat and snow we arrived at Rufus Woods. It was cold. The fishing was every slow. We had a few hits on various lures and baits. I took out my fly rod and trolled a "thinmint" fly that a fellow member tied for me last year. I had three hits on this fly, and actually lost it to a fish but not before landing this 18+ inch trout. It is the biggest for a fly rod catch. Jeremy a.k.a. Cletus U.S. Navy-Go Navy, Beat Army!!! NAFC LM, NAHC LM, NRA http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z280/JeremyHeather/004.jpg |
