About a week ago my family came up to visit from Logan county. So I figured I would take them down to the Buckhannon River (1 mile from my home) and do alittle fishing for some Rock Bass that over run the place. Easy to catch and a fun fish for first time fisherman. Ok enough of the back story heres what I was fishin with. A Quantum XToo EXTRALITE real with 6lb Berkley FireLine (only 50ft of it) a 5'6" Light action Micro Graphite by Shakespeare a 1/8oz jig head with 1" nightcrawler. I hooked a 7" Rockbass not paying much attention realin him in I hear my brother say "Dude theres muskie followin your fish. I look and sure enough there he was about 4 feet from the bass. So I speed up my reel and he makes his lunge that they are so famous for. After I see him take the bass I give him about 10ft grab my spool to ensure the drage doesnt slip on the jerk and I give it all I got. By luck alone I get a lovely hook set in the corner of his mouth. And after a 6 min. fight I land a 40in 14lbs Muskie. I have it on video but my mother sadly dropped her camera in the river with the pics on it. I have the film sent away to get recovered if possible. So I hope to add some pics here and send some in to NAFC. All in all I couldnt have asked for a better experience with my first Muskie. After days and days of casting time that I have put in on this fish with nothing to show for it but better casting accuracy. It comes to me like this and I couldnt be happier.
