Adult Channel Catfish Stocking for Free Fishing Weekend June 9-10

To help celebrate the 18 th annual Free Fishing Weekend, the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources has stocked 15 small impoundments with 5,800 lbs of adult farm-raised catfish, according to Bret Preston, Assistant Chief of Wildlife Resources.

“Catfish provide excellent mid-summer fishing opportunities. These lakes are also stocked with fingerling channel catfish so there should be plenty of opportunity to land a catfish,” said Preston. Free fishing weekend is June 9-10 and residents and nonresidents can fish in West Virginia without a license.
