The Kanawha Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be stocking its figurative “one millionth†brown trout fingerling during a celebration April 21st on the Elk River. Stocking will begin at the concrete arch bridge on Bergoo Road at 10 a.m., with the ceremonial “one millionth†trout to be stocked at Broken Bow Court above Bergoo in Webster County at 11 a.m.
“This is an event to celebrate the phenomenal achievement of stocking brown trout fingerlings in some of West Virginia’s finest coldwater streams since 1977 by members of the Kanawha Valley Chapter,†said KV Chapter President Jack Williams. “Thirty years of dedication have paid off on several streams that now are reproducing brown trout streams.
The founder of the Kanawha Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited, Ernie Nester, will stock the figurative one millionth fingerling. Several DNR representatives and state legislators will be in attendance. For more information, contact Joe Crowder of the KVCTU at 304-965-1338.
