Wisconsin Offers Free Angler Education Clinics
MADISON, WI-The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is offering free angler education workshops this summer for teachers who want to become fishing instructors. The DNR says this year's workshops mark the first time that teachers will be able to receive stipends to help defray tuition for continuing education credits.
The angler education workshops serve to train volunteer instructors to offer community programs to introduce children to basic fishing skills and knowledge of Wisconsin lakes and streams. Adults who attend the day-long workshops receive free materials that they can use to teach their own angler education courses. Materials are aligned with Wisconsin state academic standards and all fishing equipment and other materials are available on loan to instructors for their programs.
The workshops are free but require a $15 commitment fee to ensure good attendance. The $15 commitment fee is then refunded at the end of the workshop.
For more information, contact the DNR at: (608) 266-2621.
