Sunday was a day for me to play hookie from work and go do some much needed fishing. Last year at this time, I was introduced to this little spot down stream of a dam along the Rock River. Well, now we have our selves a new tradition......
This is an awesome spot to take the kids fishing because the bite is nonstop for catfish and bullheads. You can get a fish on every cast - there are other fish in this spot but it is mostly cats and bullies. This year I even got my first carp - its been a long time since I caught a carp - even while targeting this past spring.
We (Angry Bob, his daughter and I) started fishing about 10:30am and called it quits around 3:30pm with Bob's daughter getting the big fish of the day - a nice chunky 19inch channel. She ended up with a mix bag of over 20 channels and bullies, the same could be said for Angry Bob, and I, well, I got a mix bag of 70 channels and bullies (all three species) and a carp. Most of the bullies and channels were on the small side but some eater size were caught too. All fish were CPR.
Needless to say, it was a super great day with temps in the low 80's (hey - t-shirt and shorts in Oct - in Wisconsin?), sunny and what more could you ask for when fishing with your friend and the fish are biting. Bait used was hotdogs (Bob and daughter) and night crawler chunks (me).
