What do you Wisc. members think about the proposed lead sinker and jig ban? This affects me, even though I live south of the border, I hold a Wi. license due to the location we fish Lake Mich from. I have also heard that some rule changes involving northern are in store for the Green Bay area. This info came from WDNR and should be available on their web site. Tom

I haven't seen that proposal. That would affect my smallie fishin big time. That would suck. I'm very particular about my jigheads, and I doubt I would be able to find a equal lead free alternative. Not to mention they'd probably cost twice as much at least.

Just thought I would pass the info along. This is in the discussion stage, so there is time for you guys to comment. To bad a flatlander has to tell you cheeseheads what's going on! Seriously, the WDNR is taking comments, check the web site and I'm sure you will find a link to the comments page. Tom

I've read about ridiculous proposals regarding bass fishing regs. in the northern zone where they're trying to make bass lakes into walleye lakes. One way is ASKING the indians to limit spearing on the lakes they have selected. That'll work.

I beleive the lead change is stated that it would be phased out, and that you would not be banned from using it, it would not be allowed to be sold. So, I think that if you already owned it, you could use it..... When the law goes into effect.......

I hope lawdog is correct and it is a ban on sales, not use. That, however is not the way I read the release from the Wi. DNR. I am a flatlander that fishes north of the curtain often and would hate to have to sort tackle by state. Tom

I talked to a warden about a year ago. He informed me to watch for this in the future. So its just a matter of time.
