Hey E, I was thinking of a couple different things. In the misc section would it be possible to put a games sub-section in? I don`t mind them were they are but some folks are drove crazy by them. LOL. I was aso thinking that it might be helpful if in each state section they had a sub for meets. That may help them in keeping everything organized without getting bumped down by someone elses. Some of you guys should sound in on this one and any others you would like to see if possible. I know they are little things but they add up and make things better!!!

I a, am not sure I follow the reasoning behind the sub section for member meets in the state forums (not that I have anything againt them...). Wasn't the logic behind having a "member meets" forum so that all the info about member meets could be found in one central place? Is the issue the amount of time it takes to load a thread? That I can surely understand, and it comes back to how the software works...Can you clue me in? LM since 2005 Bushwacker Deputy Sherif

Pete they are talking about the way HBA has his site set up. When you open up a section like Pa you would also have more section to open. I belong to that site they are talking about for some time now and still get lost finding my way back to a post. I have yet to find the games on either site but have not looked to hard. I think there are many other things to fix on this site. I am (at this time) not in favor of sub-sections but that's JMHO. What ever the group wants is fine............... |

It was just a thought Pete. In the PA section you would have a section for your meets. Thought it might be nice if you had a spot where you could get different threads for foods, directions, sign-ups.......all together without getting lost in the shuffle of the meets section. As for the games here, some folks raise cain about the word games. Don`t know why, they have always been part of the misc section but if willmake some happy, so be it. Top right corner at HBs`, Ed.

Ok I see what you mean , I could see a use for it in the miss. section for sure. You click on there and realy have to hunt to find some thing. That the only one that gets so busy with just "stuff" that things get lost.............LOL.............thanks for the heads up on the games on HBA site ICE........... |

ice cube bob wrote: If thats doable Pete, do you think it would be useful? Well, it's different. It makes me a little nervous having the meet info in two different places...We're not talking about eliminating the "member meets" forum, right? Because I still think it is best to have a central place where meet info can be found. But I guess I don't really see a problem having the states with the orgainzing info posted in the states...Not sure I am saying that correctly! It would certainly keep the clutter away from the main meet post. It would just be different, requiring some adjustment time. I would like to hear from other meet organizers on this issue... What I'd really like to see , is a Who's Online type deal. maybe a lil Online icon by the members name or something like that. as for the sub cats deal , it would make some of the sections nice , but like pete is sayin' for the folks who don't move to well on the message forums , it would be quite confusing. maybe well enough is good enough?

No, not get rid of the meet section Pete. I read some of the meet threads and everything is stuck in one thread. Some of them threads are long and hard to find info for newer folks. If the thread was split for different info like where, what to bring, sign-up..........half of it would get burried in that thread but if it had it`s own spot in each states section you could do that and keep track of everything easier. Especially some of them bigger meets. I`d like to see who`s on line also.

I agree would like to see who's on line. I would also like to see where they live (town, state) ICB I see what you are saying but I try with the Finger Lakes meet to keep that info on the curret page and also have a mass e-mail list to keep folks updated. I see the Ohio folks have mul-ti pages and that could be a help for them. Then again a sticky could also help, and that would get out of hand scrack that idea.............LOL |

I'm reading lots of interesting suggestions here guys. Let me split it up into things we can do immediately and things we need to develop.
Things we can do immediately – we can create some new forum topics. Instead of having a sub-category in Miscellaneous for games, we could easily just create a games forum. If there are topics you think there's a need/want for let me know. Hunting wanted a “Veterans” forum awhile back.
Things we need to develop
Member Meets – it sounds to me like it would be helpful to have better tools to organize these on the site. Maybe we move towards more of a meetup.com type of area on the site?
Public member info (what state are you in, personal photo gallery, whose online, etc.) – this is all stuff we are working towards. It's helpful to hear what sorts of things you'd want, so feel free to keep listing them. |
