I went fishing today, and I met an old fisherman. We were fishing the surf for perch. I caught one and he didnt catch any. After about two hours we both left at about the same time. I see him pulling out in the parking lot and he pulls up to me and starts telling me how he used to catch dozens of fish in just a couple hours some years ago. He says hes fished that stretch all his life, and the last year has been the worst. The thing is I hear this all the time fishing up and down the coast here on the central coast. Rock fish are disappearing, halibut, and now perch. The truth is our fish in the ocean are dwindling. Pretty soon I wont be able to fish at all with a clear conscience knowing that if I take any fish, Im helping to destroy the sport. I just hope an acceptable solution that works can be found for this problem. And make no mistake, there is a problem. I fallow all the regulation to the best of my knowledge, but I dont know if they are enough. I just wanted to bring this to some of your attention. The fact is, fishing isnt what it was 20 even 10 years ago on our west coast. Thanks for your time.
